Tropes

  • Awesomeness by Analysis: While as Brainstorm, Ben effortlessly curb stomps the Vengers by predicting their tactics, taking advantage of their weaknesses, using the environment against them, and coming up with the below mentioned gambit.
  • Batman Gambit: After Ben turns into Brainstorm, he postulates that the only thing keeping Nemesis, Kangaroo and Billy's together as a team is their shared desire to make Ben look bad. So Ben "quits" being a hero, because he knows that if he removed himself from the picture, it would only be a matter of time before clashing egos would end up making their little team implode on themselves. They prove him right a lot quicker than he anticipated.
Ben: I thought you'd be at each other's throats in a couple of months, not a couple of minutes!
  • The Bus Came Back: Kangaroo Kommando returns for the first time since "Super Alien Hero Buddy Adventures".
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Brainstorm versus the Vengers is definitely one of the easiest battles for Ben. Ben even outright admits that Brainstorm isn't one of his heavy hitters and that anyone of his aliens can handle them. All that he did was predict their tactics and take advantage of their weaknesses. The fight probably lasted less than a minute. He also figured out how to turn the Vengers against each other while he was at it.
  • Karma Houdini: The Vengers make a Villain: Exit, Stage Left and Ben doesn’t even chase them. Harangue calls him out on it, but Rook and Ben point out that the police have it covered, as SECT tanks chase after them.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Ben intentionally gets Billy's name wrong, claiming that he can't be bothered to remember it.
  • Manipulative Editing: Billy records the fight between Ben and the Vengers, then has Will Harangue edit it to make Ben look bad. This gets revealed on live television at the end, exposing the Vengers' true colors to the public and effectively ruining what little reputation Harangue had left.
  • Running Gag: Billy spends the entire episode trying to come up with a catchphrase for the Vengers. At the end, as he flies off, he proclaims “The Vengers will have their vengeance”, which everyone agrees is great.
  • Series Continuity Error: The episode seems to overlook that Kane North was merely Kangaroo Commando’s twin brother and tech guy, rather than the superhero himself.
  • Shout-Out: Brainstorm's curb stomp of the Vengers seems awfully similar to the fight scenes from Sherlock Holmes (2009).
  • Snap Back: Nemesis’s Magic Plastic Surgery from his previous appearance has been undone. Either that, or the Art Shift have his new look an identical moustache to his previous face.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Ben as Brainstorm predicts that the Vengers would end up fighting themselves. He ended up being right as the Vengers don't bother hiding their differences in front of the public. In fact, the Vengers arguing about choosing a different name for their team resulted them into fighting each other.
  • Ungrateful Townsfolk: It was disgustingly easy for Billy and Harangue's badly edited video depicting Ben attacking the Vengers "unprovoked" to turn public opinion against him.
