Beavis And Butt Head S 9 E 03 Boxed In Recap

Beavis and Butt-Head get trapped in a box in the school's basement.

Tropes

  • ASMR Video: The duo watch one of Gibi ASMR's during the video segment. The video ends up giving Beavis a boner.
  • Body Horror: The duo end up pale after being trapped in the box for a week without food or water.
  • Bookends: The episode begins and ends with Beavis destructively playing with his power drill.
  • The Bus Came Back: This is Van Driessen's first appearance in the revival, and he is still the duo's hapless teacher. He's also aged quite well despite being in his 60s at this point.
  • Cabin Fever: While trapped in the box with almost no room to move, the duo quickly lose their tempers and tries to fight each other.
  • Costume Evolution: Van Driessen now wears a green baja hoodie and tan cargo shorts instead of a purple Peace t-shirt and blue jeans, but still retains his socks and sandals.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Beavis and Butt-Head plot to retrieve their confiscated drill by hiding in a box until school's over, then emerging when Mr. Van Driessen is gone. It never occurs to them that their box could, in the meantime, be moved elsewhere and buried under a bunch of other boxes, yet that is exactly what happens.
  • Fun-Hating Confiscating Adult: Inverted. After Beavis interrupts Mr. Van Driessen's class with the drill one too many times, the latter finally gets fed up and confiscates the drill, but Beavis was clearly in the wrong (it's moreso a wonder why Van Driessen even let him take the drill to class in the first place).
  • Hope Spot: Beavis manages to break a hole through the box, to which it seems like they'll escape. Too bad the janitor put them underneath several heavy boxes.
  • Mythology Gag: As the janitor is wheeling the box Beavis and Butt-Head are in to the basement, he can be heard listening to "Push It". The duo previously did commentary on that video in "Babes R Us", way back in Season 2 of the original series.
  • Older Than They Look: Aside from having wrinkles and darker hair, Van Driessen doesn't look too much older than he did in the 90s, despite now being in his 60s and possibly elligible for retirement.
