Beavis and Butt-Head have to spend time with the Positive Acting Teens or PATs.

Tropes

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Buzzcut at the idea of rehabilitating the duo.
  • Damned by Faint Praise: The PATs' listed accomplishments, which Mr. Graham treats as major, are completely unspectacular. They include removing 15 pounds of broken bottles from the student parking lot, singing carols to the elderly (one of whom smacked a PAT with his cane), and gathering a grand total of 12 cans of food for the poor.
Mr. Graham: I'd say that deserves a big PAT cheer. How 'bout it?
    PATs: Yaaaay!
  • Detention Episode: The duo is in detention at the start; they get sent to help the PATs as an alternative. After they injure Mr. Graham, they are sent back to detention until they confess to stealing his wallet.
  • Deadly Disc: Beavis finds a hubcap when they're cleaning up litter and they start to play frisbee, until a truck passes and causes it to hit Mr. Graham in the head.
  • Good Counterpart: Two of the PATs look like cleaner, less ugly versions of Beavis and Butt-Head. Like the duo, they obsess over what they watch on TV (talking about Star Trek: The Next Generation), get into a fight over a silly disagreement, and describe people or things they like as "cool." But they have healthier relationships, a more positive outlook on life, and delight in doing good things for their community.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: The PATs assume that the duo simply needs a little positivity; their leader is rewarded for this with a head injury and a stolen wallet.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: The PATs consider picking up litter to be this.
  • Kick the Dog: Done by both the duo and Buzzcut.
    • After they accidentally knock Mr. Graham out with a hubcap, Beavis and Butt-Head steal his wallet and leave, showing zero remorse or sympathy towards his grieving son, who thinks he's dead.
    • Near the end of the episode, Coach Buzzcut forces the PATs to wash his car and threatens their lives when Mr. Graham's son objects.
  • Lack of Empathy: Beavis and Butt-Head seriously believe Mr. Graham was killed, but they don't care, insist they had nothing to do with it, mock his horrified and grieving son, and make off with his wallet.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Buzzcut orders the duo to go with Mr. Graham to get out of work. He later orders the Positive Acting Teens to wash his car while Mr. Graham interrogates the duo.
  • Never My Fault: Beavis and Butt-Head insist that Mr. Graham's injury was the truck's fault, not theirs, even though the whole thing happened because they were tossing a hubcap around like a frisbee.
  • No Longer with Us: After Beavis and Butt-Head leave the highway with everyone assuming the unconscious Mr. Graham is dead, we cut to a scene of Buzzcut ordering the PATs to wash his car and reminding Graham's son that his dad's "not here, boy" when he protests, making it seem like he really is dead. However, he's then shown to be alive, with a head injury, and holding Beavis and Butt-Head in detention.
  • Redemption Rejection: Buzzcut and the PATs ask the duo if they want to reform, and both times, they outright refuse. Buzzcut forces them to go anyway, while Mr. Graham assumes they simply need to try it before they like it.
  • Sickeningly Sweet: Butt-Head considers the PATs this, although Beavis seems at least a little enthusiastic to pick up litter.
