After spending an evening at the movies with Dana, Max, and Howie, Terry spots Shriek's assistant Ollie heading into the subway and trails him. Terry then disappears, leading Bruce to drop in on Max to ask if she knows anything about what happened. They come to a dead end in the subway station, from which Terry could have gone anywhere, until they spot one of the local Ts with his backpack.

Meanwhile, Terry (now wearing the Batsuit) awakens after being buried under some rubble. He encounters Dak, a runaway taking shelter in the subway tunnel. Dak tries to find Batman a way out so he'll go away and leave him alone, but Shriek has discovered that Batman survived his first attack and is moving in to finish the job.

Tropes:

  • Big Damn Heroes: When it's all over, Bruce clobbers Shriek with his cane.
  • Book Ends: Shriek's first appearance in Beyond has him debut attempting to murder Bruce, only to be foiled by Terry. His final appearance in this episode has him attempting to murder Terry, only to be foiled by Bruce.
  • Bribe Backfire: Bruce initially offers money to buy back Terry's backpack and get an explanation of where it was found; this makes the gang suspicious and (more) hostile.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Dak doesn't care much for Batman, but he's not going to sell him out to Shriek.
  • G-Rated Drug: After saving Bruce from the T's, Max is outside their hangout, trying to desperately get out a stick of gum while her hands are trembling. A clear stand-in for a more grown-up stress-reliever, or maybe she quit recently. It could also be a Continuity Nod to "Hooked Up" and her brief VR addiction.
  • Hero Harasses Helpers: Bruce tries to leave Max behind as he searches for Terry; she insists on coming along to help.
  • Jerkass: Dak is a presumptuous brat who thinks Evil Is Cool and voices out how he’d like to be like the villains in Batman’s rouges gallery simply because “they did whatever they wanted and answered to no one”. Batman points out that line of thinking was what got them jailed in the first place and thus ruined their own lives. He softens up by the end. Though, not entirely.
  • Men Don't Cry: According to Terry, Dak threatened to kill him if he told anyone he cried.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: When the way is blocked by a work crew, Bruce acts like a dotty old man so they won't pay much attention to him, then points out Max to them so he can proceed (and leave her behind).
  • Sealed Good in a Can: The collapse traps Terry in an underground tunnel. The one opening he can make is only big enough for Dak to get through, not him.
  • Stepping Out for a Quick Cup of Coffee: Bruce sends Max away for a few moments while he persuades one of the Ts to explain where he found Terry's backpack.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Max to Bruce, much to her irritation.
  • Villain Ball: Shriek gets the drop on an exhausted Terry, but he chooses to gloat instead of open fire. Bruce lampshades this.
  • We Need a Distraction: Bruce claimed to be the distraction for Max, but she was the distraction for him.
