  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Barney drives this home for his dino-friends. When Baby Bop and BJ both hesitate to do activities the other suggests, he reminds them "that's what you wanted."
  • Grass is Greener: This drives BJ and Baby Bop's argument. They see each other as having an easier life. It's not until they switch places for the day that they realize that they'd rather be themselves.
    • Downplayed with the kids. Stephen wants a new bike like Keesha, while Keesha wants a blue ribbon on her drawing like Jeff. Conversely, Jeff wishes he were a crossing guard like Kristen and Kristen wishes she could throw a football like Stephen.
  • Save the Princess: Parodied during "The Sleeping Princess" with BJ being humiliated at every turn.
Barney: You've got to kiss her to wake her up!

  • Swapped Roles: BJ and Baby Bop pretend to be each other for the day
