Recap / Avengers Assemble S 5 E 23 House Of M

Go To

The Black Panther teams up with the Avengers to deal with one last unresolved thread from his adventures.

Tropes:

  • Back for the Finale: Thor, Red Skull, Crossbones, Crimson Widow, Arnim Zola and Typhoid Mary.
  • Disney Villain Death: Whitney is dragged down by her connection to Yamandi's ship, which then goes up in a massive fireball.
  • Easily Forgiven: Unlike Hawkeye, who refuses to let his grievances against T'Challa go, Thor's over what happened last time, even thinking what T'Challa did to him was pretty funny.
  • Enemy Mine: Black Widow suggests the Avengers and HYDRA team up to survive Whitney's attack. They do so very reluctantly, but the minute Skull's freed from her grasp they run off.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Hawkeye's new specs show a heads-up display written by Shuri, listing several things about T'Challa, such as his favorite color being mauve, and listing him as an "annoying brother".
  • Game-Breaking Injury: Hawkeye's hands still haven't healed from the damage they took, making his archery useless, yet he insists on tagging along anyway.
  • Healing Hands: A power Whitney's acquired, and which she demonstrates by fixing Hawkeye's busted hands back to normal.
  • Never Heard That One Before: Zola drops some heavy sass when Nat makes a TV-related quip about turning him off, apparently having heard them all over the last seventy years.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Whitney fixing Hawkeye's damaged hands allows him to fire the final arrow he's got at Yamandi's ship, destroying it.
  • Noodle Incident: Since we last saw him in "The Last Avenger", Thor's apparently been through something similar to the events of Thor: Ragnarok, as he's lost Mjolnir and his right eye. He breezily explains that it's apparently "not as bad as it looks".
  • Percussive Maintenance: Typhoid Mary's method of waking up Zola is whacking him with a crowbar, then hiding it as he comes to.
  • Post-Final Boss: Madame Masque serves as the final enemy of the series.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Hawkeye's still angry at Black Panther, and admits they probably never will be friends again.
