In an altered reality, the Squadron Supreme are now heroes protecting the world from dastardly villains like the Avengers.
However, Iron Man notices something off about all this, and rallies them all to get to the truth behind this reality.
Tropes:
- The Cameo: J. Jonah Jameson does a newscast ranting about the evil Avengers, which Tony watches.
- Evil Costume Switch: Everyone in the Avengers has redone looks.
- Cap's outfit is his comic incarnation's The Captain outfit.
- Iron Man's armor is his post-Avengers vs. X-Men armor, where the red is replaced with black.
- Thor's outfit now contains a lot more gold.
- Black Widow has paler skin and severely undershadowed eyes.
- The Hulk's skin is grey.
- Killer Robot: In the Squadron's rewritten universe, Iron Man - despite the suit of powered armor - builds giant robots to attack people as well.
- Near-Villain Victory: Doctor Spectrum comes this close to using the Reality Stone to erase the Avengers completely.
- Never Say "Die": Iron Man flies a bomb of Nighthawk's which everyone figures could take out New York into the sky, and it goes off. They never actually say what's become of him, but the implication is clear Tony didn't make it.
- Perception Filter: How the Reality Stone's effects work, rather than actually changing things. A little girl is supposedly cheering on the Squadron, but Tony's playback reveals she's actually cheering the Avengers and her words are being twisted.
- Reset-Button Suicide Mission: Undoing the Squadron's reality warping brings Tony back, none the worse for wear.
