Recap / Atop The Fourth Wall Ashock The Fourth Wall

Go To

It's Halloween again, and for the sake of marketing, Linkara has decided to rebrand the show as A Shock the Fourth Wall for the season. But as prior Halloween's have caused Linkara nothing but trouble, he's now at the point of a mental break preparing for something to happen again. Only this time, it seems reality is breaking with him...

  • Call-Back: The "Ominous Chime" returns to end an episode once again. Last time it was used, it was during the Sleepwalker Arc. The Arc in which both Vyce and the Entity returned.
  • Genre Blind: Downplayed. Harvey and Eliza agree with Linkara about his worries over Halloween, noting that he's not wrong that the very holiday seems to have it out for him. But they do think he's taking it too far and that he should try enjoying things for a bit and there aren't any immediate troubles to worry over. Needless to say this almost immediately starts Tempting Fate, which they should really know better about doing by now.
  • Genre Savvy: Linkara knows that something is due to happen because it's Halloween and loads up with every weapon he possibly can so he can take care of any trouble that happens.
  • Internal Deconstruction: The first story segment does this with trouble happening every Halloween. Linkara seems to have developed trauma based mania based on how many times in the last few years and is unwilling to even leave the room because he can't stop worrying over what new terror may arrive.
  • Lighter and Softer: As opposed to previous, more horror-flavored, Halloween stories, the reality shifts are mostly Played for Laughs.
  • Properly Paranoid: Linkara arms himself with every weapon he can get his hands on, fearing that trouble is right around the corner. Harvey concedes his point but feels Linkara is overdoing it and that they're safe for the moment. Sure enough Linkara is almost instantly proven right.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Given everything Linkara has gone through in past Halloweens it's not too shocking he seems to have developed some kind of traumatic mania now that it's here again.
  • Tempting Fate: Harvey and Eliza try to convince Linkara that he's going overboard with fears about Halloween and the moment he starts easing up is when ominous happening start.
  • Wham Line: Behold: When paranoia about Halloween proves justified.
  • Wham Shot
    • An example that is either continuous or rapid fire from "Clive Barker's Hellraiser #1". First the screen distorts with static. Then everything looks normal after but 90's Kid is in Harvey's place. Then when Linkara leaves the distortion returns and causes a jack-o-lantern to repeatedly switch places with some kind of device that sparks off once before returning to the pumpkin which stays.
