Buster tries to come to terms with the loss of his hand. Michael tries to find a way out of raising Maggie's baby.
The Arrested Development episode "Hand to God" provides examples of:
- Aborted Arc: Maggie falls pregnant, for real this time, after sleeping with Michael again. However, this was meant to be a one-off as Julia Louis-Dreyfus wasn't expected to return to the show.
- Hurricane of Puns: There are a ton of "hand" puns when Michael talks to Buster in the hospital, along with other times.GOB: [to the seal] You're not gonna be hand-fed anymore.
- Instantly Proven Wrong: Michael assures his son that there was nothing to be scared about when breaking into Maggie's home only to be interrupted by the officer noting that his partner was waiting inside with his gun drawn.
- Irony: Lucille, on the phone with Michael, wishes George Sr. were there. Right after she does so, she has to swerve to avoid a man in an SUV who pulls out in traffic. Of course, it's George Sr.George: Up yours, granny!Lucille: You couldn't handle it!
- Maternity Crisis: The fat lady breaks water while in court and has to be rushed to the hospital.
- Shout-Out: Buster once again uses the Unusual Euphemism "Linus" to refer to a penis.
- Visual Pun: Lucille isn't sure what part of his body Buster lost. Right after mentioning this on the phone, she takes the hand off a wooden figure. Buster has, of course, lost his hand.
