Recap / Aqua Teen Hunger Force S 4 E 8 Grim Reaper Gutters

Go To

The Aqua Teens are holed up in their house trying to avoid a grim reaper salesman. To pass the time they reminisce of past events and try to drag Carl in.

"Grim Reaper Gutters" contains examples of:

  • AsHerself: Porn star Tera Patrick voices herself.
  • Clip Show: A parodied version. The Aqua Teens spend the first half of the episode recalling past events, some occurring in the past and some made up for this episode.
  • Depending on the Writer: Despite shooting himself in the head before and surviving, this episode has Meatwad getting shot in the head — and dies for real.
  • Fully Automatic Clip Show: Master Shake asks when Frylock has ever saved him or Meatwad. Cue a rapid-fire montage of Frylock saving them repeatedly. It turns out that the Aqua Teens are watching a montage Fry created himself and set to rock music.
  • The Grim Reaper: He's named Dan, and he won't leave until he makes a sale. Unfortunately for people who don't want to buy gutters, he has the Touch of Death typically associated with the Grim Reaper and isn't afraid to use it.
  • Gainax Ending: Frylock chickens out and decides to buy Dan's gutters while Meatwad kills himself.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Tera Patrick starts to monologue her own Clip Show flashback like the others only for Master Shake to angrily berate her for telling random anecdotes that have no substance and go nowhere, which is exactly what the episode consists of up to that point.
  • Random Events Plot: It starts with the Aqua Teens sitting around talking about random stuff that happened to them, then derails into increasingly bizarre events that have no foreshadowing, culminating in Meatwad shooting himself for no reason.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Carl as usual, but also a rare death from Meatwad.
  • Touch of Death: Dan kills Carl with a touch after Carl refuses to buy any gutters.
