Bessie has her work cut out for her when she's tasked with showing MicroAngelo the ropes.

    Full Recap
TBA...

Tropes:

  • Badly Battered Babysitter: Bessie is run ragged when she's put in charge of looking after Polly's new snail MicroAngelo.
  • Breather Episode: An almost pure comedy with no real stakes in between two Sasha-heavy episodes.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Anne reminisces about the times Marcy butchered her hair trying to give her a makeover. In one instance, Marcy had shaved Anne bald, only to ask if it was too short?
  • Continuity Nod: Polly mentions about the secret weapon stash under the house.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses on Bessie as she learns to get along with Polly's new pet snail, MicroAngelo.
  • Easily Condemned: Despite Bessie having a lifelong track record of being a responsible and reliable snail who only acts up when she has very good reason, Hop Pop is quick to condemn Bessie as being too irresponsible and unreliable when she causes a "ding-dang ruckus" while chasing after MicroAngelo.
  • Everything Makes a Mushroom: The bird that grabs MicroAngelo explodes into a huge mushroom cloud when knocked out of the sky by Bessie.
  • Foreshadowing: When Marcy points out to Anne they'll be leaving soon, she asks her if she wants to "live the fantasy a little". She's also revealed to have called Bernardo to come and help give Anne a more fantasy-world-appropriate look ahead of time without telling Anne, which ties into The Reveal in "True Colors".
  • Grossup Closeup: Not too gross, but when Marcy comes to complain about Anne's wardrobe, her sock is noticeably dirty and when pointed out, we get a close up of it with mud splotches and even a hole her big toe is poking out of. Oddly when they go to pick new clothes for Anne, her sock looks pristine as usual.
  • Improbable Hairstyle Sequence: When Anne talks about how Sasha and Marcy were always trying to give her makeovers, we are shown a sequence of Marcy cutting Anne's hair, which culminates in Anne being bald.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Lampshaded by Marcy, who notes that Anne has practically worn through her uncovered sock and generally hasn't altered her overall appearance much during her time in Amphibia, whereas both Marcy and (unknown to her) Sasha have upgraded their appearances to fit more into Amphibia's culture. She hires a Newtopian armorer to update Anne's look, though Anne ultimately goes with just a chest-plate that doesn't otherwise affect her appearance because she doesn't want to change who she is. note
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Hop Pop is horrified when he realizes he not only wrongfully condemned and locked up Bessie, but the family almost got blown up by boom shrooms due to hap-hazardous packing and they were only saved by Bessie breaking out of the barn.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: MicroAngelo seemingly achieves this, as he is usually running off when Bessie isn't watching him.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: MicroAngelo does this after being scolded by Bessie for nearly getting run over by a cart-pulling crab. Despite herself, Bessie can't help but snuggle up to MicroAngelo to comfort him.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: After Bessie accidentally causes a huge mess from chasing MicroAngelo, Hop Pop remarks that trusting her was obviously a mistake and too much responsibility for her to handle. While he believes it's because Bessie is not responsible or reliable for the job, the audience knows MicroAngelo is a Straying Baby and Hop Pop put too much pressure on Bessie to reign him in alone.
  • Shout-Out: The Costume-Test Montage has several references.
  • Straying Baby: MicroAngelo wanders into danger the instant Bessie loses sight of him.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The episode is a tribute to Warner Brothers' old "Marc Anthony and Pussyfoot" shorts, in which a large bulldog strives to protect a tiny accident-prone kitten.
