Welcome to the Wartwood Town Archives

To prepare for Anne's quest, the Plantars visit the town archives and accidentally get trapped.

This episode has examples of:

  • Ash Face: Anne and the Plantars receives this after getting singed by the flames set off from Hop Pop's reading glasses, with Hop Pop humorously coughing a puff of smoke.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: The cicadas, although unlike most giant animals in Amphibia, they're herbivorous. That doesn't stop them from trying to eat Anne's hair, though.
  • Chasing a Butterfly: When Anne tells Bessie to go and get some help, the snail crawls after a small butterfly instead.
  • Eye Scream: Anne reads a book on Plants That Can Eat You and sees a picture of a plant clamping down on a frog's eyeball.
  • Go, Ye Heroes, Go and Die: Sprig attempts to deliver a Rousing Speech to get the panicking family in line to find a way out, but it falls flat when Sprig points out that if they can't find a way out, all that will be found is their dehydrated mummified carcasses clawing at the door.
  • Help, I'm Stuck!: Anne gets stuck trying to escape through the skylight.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Sprig doesn't believe in research, feeling that the best approach is to jump in blindly.
  • Locked in a Room: Sprig sabotages the door so they get locked inside and they have to find a way out, to show that they don't need to do boring research.
  • Noodle Incident: There is a brief flashback to a series of "adventures" Sprig and Anne had together, which included encountering a fire-breathing mole, rolling down a hill on Bessie's back, and getting sprayed by a giant Smelly Skunk. We don't get more context for them.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Usually Anne is all for going along with Sprig and having even less of an attention span, but here she seriously wants to research and meticulously plan leaving the Valley. This is because she is very worried that she might mess up her only chance to get back home and in order to give herself the best chance she will do things she normally doesn't like, like spending an entire day reading books.
  • Shout-Out: To ZooBooks. Anne cheers and shouts, "Zoobooks and manga, here I come!"
  • Solar-Powered Magnifying Glass: Hop Pop tries to replace the lens of the sunlight-operated door with his reading glasses, but all that does is set the place on fire.
  • Timmy in a Well: Anne tries to get Bessie to go for help, but she chases after a butterfly instead.
  • Toilet Teleportation:Sprig ultimately escapes from the archives by swimming through a pipe and crawling out the toilet in the ladies restroom of Felicia's Tea Shoppe.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Anne calling out Sprig for causing the entire mess in the first place, especially since she needs all the help she can get if she ever wants to go home.
