The survivors figure out the secret to the Final Killing Game, and reach a conclusion on who the mastermind is.
- Call-Back: The first scene of the anime shows the survivors of Hope's Peak opening the front door to the outside world, mirroring the ending scene of the first game.
- The Cameo: The victims of the first Killing Game (and Kyoko) appear in Makoto's dream.

- Heroic Sacrifice: Sakakura cut off his arm to remove his bracelet, so that he'd be able to stay awake during the attack phase. This allows him to interrupt Naegi's despair-induced suicide attempt, but causes him to bleed out after shutting off the power switches.
- Heroic Willpower: With one foot on the grave, bleeding from various holes all over his body, Sakakura still could move enough to fight off a brainwashed Naegi and ultimately save the day by shutting off the power.
