The forty-fifth episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Coconuts inadvertently creates a super-power formula when his janitor bucket spills in the lab. Robotnik falls into it and becomes Super Robotnik, then challenges Sonic to a fight.
This episode provides examples of:
- Achilles' Heel: In a more literal sense than usual: Robotnik falls into a vat of super strength potion, and the only part that didn't hit was his... well, as he terms it, "caboose". He terms it after calling it his "unmentionable" two seconds before:Scratch: Gasp! He mentioned it!
- Blob Monster: Coconuts inadvertently creates one in an attempt to recreate the superpower formula, which chases him, Scratch, and Grounder.
- Bowdlerise: The Toon Disney broadcast of this episode edits the scene where Scratch hangs a picture in Robotnik's office to cut out the part where Scratch swallows some nails and belches.
- Circling Birdies:
- Happens to Grounder after he gets hit by the hammer Scratch uses to hammer in the nails that hang up Robotnik's picture.
- Also happens to Sonic after he plummets back to Mobius after being launched into the air by Robotnik.
- The Dog Bites Back: After winning the second event, Robotnik launches Sonic into the sky, causing him to hit an Angel. At the end of the episode, the Angel gets back at Robotnik by zapping him.Angel: Who says there's not a little bit of heaven on Mobius?
- Eat the Camera: When Robotnik laughs after getting his super powers, the camera zooms on his open mouth before transitioning to Sonic.
- Expospeak Gag: When Robotnik and Coconuts see the superpower formula has dissolved from the vat.Robotnik: Horrors! The super-strength formula has dissipated!Coconuts: And it's not there anymore, either!
- Evil Is Petty: One of the ways Robotnik uses his new super powers is to steal candy from 4,822 babies.
- Growing Muscles Sequence: When Robotnik transforms, the camera shows his right arm gaining muscle (to Coconuts' surprise), then the left arm and his fat belly following suit.
- Harmless Freezing: Robotnik uses his ice breath to freeze Sonic and Tails. Sonic later manages to break him and Tails out.
- Only One Finds It Fun: Scratch and Grounder are the only ones who cheer for Robotnik at the Gladiator's Contest, as the entire rest of Mobius roots for Sonic and boos and jeers at Robotnik.
- Produce Pelting: The citizens of Mobius toss food at Robotnik after he wins the first event, the Rings of Steel, by cheating.
- Promotion, Not Punishment: Coconuts usually gets the short end of the stick from Robotnik despite not really doing anything to deserve it. In this episode, after Robotnik falls into the vat of the superpower formula, he turns to Coconuts and tells him he's responsible for it. Coconuts expects the worst from Robotnik as usual, but Robotnik instead promotes him to First Luitenant for making the superpower formula.
- Rouge Angles of Satin: Robotnik's emergency vault has a sign with the words "For Emergenies Only".
- Superhero Episode: Or rather, Supervillain Episode. Robotnik gains superpowers after falling into the vat with the superpower formula that Coconuts created.
- Tempting Fate:
- At the beginning of this episode, Coconuts complains about how unfairly he's treated, claiming that he works hard and never makes mistakes. Not long afterwards, he accidentally knocks a shelf of chemicals into a vat of water, which creates the superpower formula.
- Later in the episode, Robotnik is impressed with the picture that Scratch hung in his office, and is about to promote Scratch, only to sit on the nail that fell on his chair and hurt himself.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Coconuts is the smartest badnik of the team, and he really doesn't do anything to hinder the process of Robotnik's plans, yet he keeps getting demoted. In this episode, as a result of creating the superpower formula that Robotnik falls into, Robotnik gives Coconuts his long-desired promotion.
- Thumbtack on the Chair: Scratch hangs up a picture in Robotnik's office and one of the nails accidentally falls on Robotnik's chair. Since Robotnik's butt was the only thing that wasn't affected by the Superpower formula Coconuts inadvertently created, it wasn't invulnerable like the rest of his body. Thus, he is in genuine pain when he sits on the nail.
- Trap Door: Robotnik sends Scratch and Grounder down these after demoting them.
- Trampoline Tummy: After Super Robotnik sabotages Sonic's attempt to win the first event, the Rings of Steel, Sonic lands on an elephant and bounces on her stomach.
- You Need a Breath Mint: At the Gladiators' Contest, Robotnik tells Sonic to his face that he's going to lose. Sonic then sprays Robotnik's mouth with breath spray.Sonic: The only thing strong about you is your breath!
