A full-scale war breaks out between two kingdoms, and Ooo's most unlikely hero must put an end to the fighting.

- The Cameo: Me-Mow is among the fire people marching to attack the candy elements.
- Classical Antihero: LSP lampshades herself as this as she has a Heroic BSoD.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with a bunch of candy-ified people and animals surrounding Finn while creepily singing "Let Me Call You Sweetheart".
- Continuity Nod:
- Finn's "happy place" flashbacks with Princess Bubblegum include references to "To Cut a Woman's Hair", "Mortal Recoil", "Too Young", and "The Pajama War".
- While not explicitly spelled out, Betty using Finn to collect the jewels and abandoning him at the end is a parallel to "The Lich": Finn collects crown jewels for someone who he thinks is on his side, only to be betrayed when it turns out that the person was just using him for their own ends.
- Go Through Me: LSP impedes Fire Finn when the latter is about to attack Bubblegum.
- Happy Place: Eating some of Marsheline's marshmallow face snaps LSP out of her depression. She says that "this tastes like my happy place". She then gives some candy to Fire Finn to send him to his happy place, which happens to be him hanging out with Princess Bubblegum. This brings him back to normal.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: LSP urges Fire Finn to look inside his "hero heart" and fight the corruption of the Fire Kingdom. Finn is too far gone and only reverts back to normal after LSP gives him some candy, which sends him to his happy place.
- Literal-Minded: As Fire Finn tell her he only hears the drums of war, LSP holds a hand to her ear and says "what drums?"
- No-Sell: Not even a direct attempt by PB to convert LSP (Finn technically, LSP was shielding him) works.
- Our Zombies Are Different: After PB turns the Flame Kingdom denizens into candy (minus Finn and LSP), everyone starts acting zombie-esque while singing Bing Crosby's Let Me Call You Sweetheart.
- Ship Tease: Invoked, in the sense that Finn's "happy place" is the time he spent with 13-year-old Princess Bubblegum, and they send him into that "happy place" as a means to remind him of someone he loves and calm him down to normal.
- Taking the Bullet: When Princess Bubblegum tries to turn Finn into candy, LSP jumps in front of the blast. She is unaffected by the elemental magic, however, even eating some of it.
- Treacherous Quest Giver: Once Finn gives the gems to Betty, she shoves him aside and leaves. Turns out she was never going to restore Ooo at all and was just using Finn for her own ends.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: As soon as Finn gives Betty all of the monarch jewels, she laughs maniacally, pushes him off the flying carpet and abandons Finn to be attacked by the candy people.
