Recap / Adventure Time S 5 E 18 Princess Potluck

Go To
Ice King gets annoyed that he wasn't invited to the princess potluck, so he tries to sabotage the event.

  • Absentee Actor: Several key princesses are absent from the potluck, such as Emerald Princess and Engagement Ring Princess. The most notable absence, though, is obviously Flame Princess, who was probably not invited since Princess Bubblegum feared her uncontrolled powers would cause a disaster; other possible reasons include the very fact she technically wasn't a princess at the time due to living outside the Fire Kingdom, or Bubblegum still having repressed jealousy for her relationship with Finn.
  • Ax-Crazy: The Red Squirrel from "The Duke" has gone far more unstable since the last time he showed up.
  • Call-Back: It turns out the arrows being fired at Jake were shot by the Red Squirrel from "The Duke".
  • Continuity Cameo: The Multiple Head Case Princess and the infant princess shown in "Loyalty to The King" and "The Lich" reappear and are named as Princess Princess Princess and Embryo Princess respectively.

  • Convenience Store Gift Shopping: Finn's contribution to the potluck is a single can of grape soda.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Ice King literally forgets that he could use his ice powers to disrupt the party until nearly the end of the episode.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: It turns out that Princess Bubblegum actually did invite the Ice King to the potluck.
  • Literal-Minded: Ice King ties lemons to some cats he captured, calling them "sourpusses" to ruin the potluck. He also has "party poopers" in the form of overfed rabbits, but they end up relieving themselves before he can use them.
  • Poke the Poodle: Ice King's efforts to sabotage the party.
  • RevengeSVP: Ice King tries to ruin the party he wasn't invited to. Or so he thinks... he overlooked the invite.
  • Static Stun Gun: Gunter has one to ward off anyone who'd abuse him.

  • Stock Shout-Out: Gunter's dance routine is the generic American cartoon Carmen Miranda impersonation.
  • Take Our Word for It: Whatever happened to Ice King's sack full of rabbits.
  • Zonk: It turns out that the weird "sea lard" from "BMO Noire" was Finn's prize for winning the Potluck raffle.
