After being "grounded" for attempting to kidnap Breakfast Princess, the Ice King accidentally hires a mysterious hitman named Scorcher to take out Finn and Jake.

Tropes:

  • Anthropomorphic Food:
    • This episode introduces Breakfast Princess and Toast Princess.
    • Jake mentions getting the lunchmeat for the sandwiches he and Finn are making from a guy called "Meat Man". Though a weird nightmare he has makes him have second thoughts about eating Meat Man's meat anymore.
  • Contract on the Hitman: Ice King tries to stop Scorcher by hiring a hitman hitman. Scorcher easily defeats him.
  • Enemy Mine: Eventually, Ice King teams up with Finn and Jake against Scorcher.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Ice King doesn't want Finn and Jake dead.
  • Faking the Dead: To stop Scorcher from killing Finn and Jake, Ice King freezes them to convince Scorcher that they're dead. It works and he leaves.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: After Scorcher leaves, you can see a cryptic poem written on the piece of paper he leaves behind.
  • Implacable Man: The eponymous hitman, Scorcher. Once he's been told to put out a hit, he will not stop until his target is dead.
  • Ironic Echo: At the end of the episode, Ice King sits on the frozen Finn and Jake and quips "Hey guess what? You're grounded!"
  • Karma Houdini: Ice King gets no real punishment for hiring a hitman on Finn and Jake.
  • Literal-Minded: Ice King thinks that hitmen just hit somebody, as in like a punch in the arm. He hires Scorcher to do exactly that, not knowing that hitmen kill people.
  • Look Behind You: Ice King tries to distract Scorcher by pointing behind him and saying "Look, a supermodel! Look, a hoverboard! Look, the apocalypse!"
  • Lost Food Grievance: Jake lets out a Big "NO!" when Ice King barges into their house and freezes his sandwich in an attempt to put out the fire Scorcher set.
  • Playing with Fire: Scorcher has the power to use flames.
  • Professional Killer: Scorcher's occupation.
  • Super Smoke: Scorcher also has the power to turn into black smoke.
  • Talking with Signs: Scorcher communicates by creating scrolls with writing on out of thin air.
  • Unusual Euphemism: Ice King claims that a guy got hit in the "boing-loings", which is what finally distracts Scorcher.
  • You Are Grounded!: Finn and Jake "ground" the Ice King for bothering Breakfast Princess.
