- All Your Base Are Belong to Us: The Cuties have this as their central plot, as they try to take over the treehouse. Sadly for them, it backfires somewhat.
- Bad "Bad Acting": Finn and Jake do this with some success, when they throw a fight against the Cute King's army.
- Batman Gambit: Finn and his friends fake being defeated by Cute King so he will be happy and they will leave him and Jake alone, while also giving them a taste of victory for their own sake.
- Berserk Button: Cute King becomes murderous when he isn't taken seriously or when people find his army cute.
- Big Little Man: In the second battle a bunch of Cuties combine together to create a giant mega-Cutie, shot from a low angle and with intimidating music... but it's still about as tall as Finn's knee.
- Big, Stupid Doodoo-Head: The Cuties' laughably ineffective attempt to break Finn and Jake by pretending to be their mother's malicious ghost.
- A Bloody Mess: Finn uses ketchup to resemble bloodshed, and the Cuties fall for it at first.
- Break the Cutie:
- Cute King did not take it well when his army cried and began bawling with them.
- Later and rather literally, it also happens to Cute King when he finds out Finn, Jake, BMO, Lumpy Space Princess, Cinnamon Bun and a duck faked their deaths using ketchup as blood.
- Combining Mecha: The Cuties combine together in battle, though the result isn't even big enough to reach up to Finn's waist.
- Corpsing: Happens In-Universe; Jake ruins Finn's plan to make the Cuties think they won the battle when he bursts out laughing at the Cute King's ridiculous victory dance.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: The Cutie army vs. Finn and Jake. They all either trip, incapacitate themselves, fall apart, or explode during their attack on Finn and Jake's house before even reaching the front door.
- Cute Is Evil: The Cuties would like to embody this trope, but are not particularly good at it.
- Cuteness Proximity: At the end of the episode, Finn convinces the Cute King and his Cuties to weaponize their cuteness against their enemies. It works, as seen on Ice King.
- Epic Fail: The Cuties' siege on the Tree Fort is laughably terrible. They trip over each other, lose limbs, and one of them explodes for no reason.Finn: These guys are a threat to themselves.
- Everybody Cries: Cute King and his army begin bawling at their second failure.
- Face of a Thug: Inverted: Cute King and his legion of Cuties are certified cuties but unfortunately they are monsters, too bad they aren't taken seriously.
- Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: The Cutie Army barely passes as a threat despite their desire to be taken seriously.
- Meta Twist: The early part of the episode and the Big Little Man scene hint that the Cuties are genuinely dangerous, and several previous episodes have featured secretly evil and dangerous cute things, but actually they are just as harmless as they seem.
- Paranoia Gambit: When the Cute King tells Jake to "enjoy your burrito!", Jake thinks they might have poisoned it somehow, and ends up unable to bring himself to eat it.
- Puppy-Dog Eyes: The Cute King does this to control Ice King at the end and so he will make him a sandwich.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: All the Cuties.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: Lumpy Space Princess' idea of letting the Cuties win is to pretend to fall in love with one and then die of unrequited love.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Sandwich: Played With. Jake doesn’t eat the Everything Burrito he made out of paranoia the Cuties poisoned it, and buries it in a grave that evening but it likely wasn’t edible anyway considering all that was in it.
- Throwing the Fight: Finn, Jake, and their friends pretend to fall in battle to the Cuties to get them to leave Finn and Jake alone.
