- Spy Speak: It turns out that "apples" is ne'er-do-well slang for diamonds in the Candy Kingdom.
- Stunned Silence: Finn, both times Jake talks about his delinquent past.
- Thieving Magpie: The apples turn out to have actually been stolen by magpies; most of the apples wound up in Tree Trunks' wardrobe after falling out of the magpies' nest and through a hole in her roof.
