Fanboy #1: Squirrel Girl is Marvel's Batman. She beats people she shouldn't be able to beat.
Squirrel-Girl: You put on a good show, Victor. Talking like a monster, acting monstrous, dressing up as scary as you can. But I've got some bad news for you: I don't believe in monsters. Beneath that cold metal mask, you're still human. Human like me. I believe you'll listen to reason. And I don't believe humans stop being human even when they pretend their monsters.
Dr. Doom: Then you shall die.
Alt Text: You put on a good show, Victor. Talking like a monster, acting monstrous, gluing purple fur on your armor, juggling, spinning plates, doing jazz hands constantly. It's an impressive, extremely confusing show.
The Unbeatable Squirrel-Girl, vol. 2 no. 4

Maureen Green (Doreen's mother): ...when Dr. Ditray tested her after we all noticed her tail, he discovered that even though we all assumed Doreen was a mutant, what was going on was actually slightly different. I don't remember: something about her "RNA" or her "DNA" or—oh, [her father] would know. All it meant that was my little girl was even more special. What's the phrase he used, Doreen?... I remember now: "Doreen is medically and legally distinct from being a mutant, and I can never take this back."

"Actually I created Squirrel Girl in script form without any artist input. Tom Morgan was originally going to draw it, but when he dropped out, I requested Ditko and got him. Ditko did a great job in bringing my baby to life. He invented that knuckle spike. It wasn’t in the script. I based Squirrel Girl ironically enough on a long–ago girlfriend who read comics and was into “critters”—wild animals of all types. Coincidentally, she was a big Ditko fan. I think I got the idea because I had a bunch of squirrels running around my roof and sometimes coming in through my open bedroom window and inspiration struck. By a strange coincidence, although I never described [her] physically in my story, Ditko somehow managed to capture the likeness of my old girlfriend."
