The only important thing to know is that the alligator was alive the entire time. That's it, the alligator was alive the entire time. I'm getting a lot of confused looks right now, so I must've phrased that badly. My English is, how you say, inelegant. Let me put it this way: the entire time, the alligator was alive. The alligator was alive the entire time. Was the alligator alive the entire time? The alligator WAS alive the entire time! Alive the entire time was the alligator. The... alligator... was... alive... the... entire... time! Time entire the alive was alligator the! Alive time the alligator was the entire! The the time was entire alligator alive. The! Alligator! Was! Alive! The! Entire! Time! Worst episode ever.

Because "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" turned out this well, made such a good first impression, we ended up getting all of these amazing episodes and memorable moments that continually brighten up our day, so happy anniversary of The Simpsons. Thanks for thirty years.

"Halloween of Horror"'s primary technique is to punch Bart in the face over and over again and call that a subplot. We go from leaving Krustyland early, to Skinner dressing him down, to Homer removing Everscream Terrors. One disappointment after another. This does set him up for Marge to swoop in and save the day, offering to take him to Rich People Halloween. But even that becomes this horrible tease when they get turned away. And then he can't even trick-or-treat, because it's too late. It's essentially "Bart and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Halloween".
