"I have saved him. He was a man who craved power, and great power he had. But he feared losing it. Trembling at unseen enemies, he spent his days scheming petty schemes. Chased by his fears, never knowing rest. You see, now he has no worries. He has been granted sleep eternal. Death is a sweet slumber: all the pain of life is gently swept away. Don't you see? If all life were to end in Spira, all suffering would end. Don't you see? Do you not agree?"
Seymour Guado, Final Fantasy X

Wanye: You're gonna destroy millions of lives.
Ducard: Only a cynical man would call what these people have "lives," Wayne. Crime. Despair. This is not how man was supposed to live. The League of Shadows has been a check against human corruption for thousands of years. We sacked Rome. Loaded trade ships with plague rats. Burned London to the ground. Every time a civilization reaches the pinnacle of its decadence, we return to restore the balance.
Wayne: Gotham isn't beyond saving. Give me more time. There are good people here.
Ducard: You're defending a city so corrupt, we have infiltrated every level of its infrastructure. When I found you in that jail, you were lost. But I believed in you. I took away your fear, and I showed you a path. You were my greatest student. It should be you standing by my side, saving the world.
Wayne: I'll be standing where I belong. Between you and the people of Gotham.
Ducard: No one can save Gotham. When a forest grows too wild, a purging fire is inevitable and natural. Tomorrow the world will watch in horror as its greatest city destroys itself. The movement back to harmony will be unstoppable this time.
Wayne: You attacked Gotham before?
Ducard: Of course. Over the ages our weapons have grown more sophisticated. With Gotham we tried a new one, economics. But we underestimated certain members of Gotham's citizens, such as your parents. Gunned down by one of the very people they were trying to help. Create enough hunger and everyone becomes a criminal. Their deaths galvanized the city into saving itself, and Gotham has limped on ever since. We are back to finish the job.

"Human, have you ever been to Hell? I'd rather not exist than endure that experience a second longer, and if I have to drag down everyone else with me... so be it."
Azrael, Dogma

"If anyone rejects the way I've chosen to live my life, I'll kill everyone they love! Then they'll at least begin to understand... my hatred."
Sasuke, Naruto

"I'm so embarrassed, I wish everybody else was dead!"
Bender, Futurama

9S: It doesn't matter. None of this matters!
A2: 9S!
9S: But if it doesn't matter...why do I long for humans like this!? Why do I desire the touch of something that no longer exists!?
A2: It's how we were made. Androids were designed to protect their human masters. Our core programming demands that we—
9S: Shut up, shut up, shut UP, SHUT UP! Fine, then... I'll just destroy it! Hee hee... if it all goes away, that'll solve everything!
NieR: Automata, ending D

"All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything away from me, will feel my loss and despair!"
-— Gerald Robotnik, Sonic Adventure 2

I saw her broken body. I went insane. My hatred exploded, and in an instant of grief I destroyed the Husnock. [...] No, no, no, no. You don't understand the scope of my crime. I didn't kill just one Husnock, or a hundred, or a thousand. I killed them all. All Husnock, everywhere. Are eleven thousand people worth fifty billion? Is the love of a woman worth the destruction of an entire species?
Kevin Uxbridge, "The Survivors," Star Trek: The Next Generation
