Quotes / Fog of Doom

Go To

"I don't know what happened to Antonio Bay tonight. Something came out of the fog and tried to destroy us. In one moment, it vanished. But if this has been anything but a nightmare, and if we don't wake up to find ourselves safe in our beds, it could come again. To the ships at sea who can hear my voice, look across the water, into the darkness. Look for the fog."
Stevie Wayne, The Fog (1980)

"Looks like the fog's rolling in. Stay sharp. NO SLACKING!"
Mr. Grizz, Splatoon 2

"I've seen fog so thick you could cut it, but none that could cut me."
Tahngarth, Fog Elemental flavour text

The Fog did not stay long. It retreated out to sea, and the people followed. Everything was echo-riddled silence as the unfortunates chased the vapour. Cars sat running. Dinners sat cooling. Playground roundabouts spun empty. With no panic and no sound, they calmly walked into the cold water.
It wrapped around the island, and the Fog and silence held illimitable dominion over all.
The Buzzing, The Secret World

You imbecile! Surely even you must know something about the Mist. The vicious monsters it spawns! The abnormalities it stirs in the mind and body!
Steiner, Final Fantasy IX

After many years of peace, rumors reached them of a threat from the north: a great mist that spread itself over the lands, engulfing farms, villages and entire towns. Nothing that it touched survived, and nothing that entered it ever emerged again. The people fled before it, and the stream of refugees became a torrent, all seeking safety in the stronghold by the sea, only to reach it and find that there was nowhere left to run, and they must turn at last and face the entity that was pursuing them. Those who came told the king of strange beasts glimpsed in the mist - creatures with jaws in their bellies, women with the bodies of serpents, and men with two heads who rode upon the backs of flightless dragons.

As this fog spreads, towns, cities and Gaia caerns succumb to the psychic depredations of Eater-of-Souls. Within the fog, food loses its capacity to sustain human life. People succumb to despair and horror - a horror only amplified when some desperate individual discovers that human flesh can sustain him.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Apocalypse

"Try to maintain contact with your teammates at all times while in the fog. Being alone in the fog is extremely dangerous."
Salmonid Field Guide, Splatoon 2
