Basic Trope: Two people walk and talk.

  • Straight: Alice and Bob begin talking while walking across the park.
  • Exaggerated: Alice and Bob walk across the entire USA talking about one minor topic.
  • Downplayed: Alice and Bob stop walking at certain points in their dialogue, but otherwise play it straight.
  • Justified: They don't have time to just sit and talk.
  • Inverted: Alice and Bob stop walking whenever they talk and/or vice versa.
  • Advertisement:
  • Subverted: They walk a few feet without talking and get in a car.
  • Double Subverted: But when they get out of the car, they continue a conversation while walking to their destination.
  • Parodied:
    • Alice and Bob talk while running away from a pack of rabid-mutant-mecha-zombie-dogs.
    • Alice and Bob walk a lap around the entire town and finish their conversation right where they started.
    • Alice and Bob have a stationary conversation, but the background changes behind them because it's a projection and they are standing in front of the screen.
    • Alice and Bob walk in place and talk.
  • Zig-Zagged: Alice and Bob start out walking and talking, then walk in silence for another few minutes. Then they resume talking, and later they stop walking. They sit in silence for however long they choose, then get back up and walk on, also while talking.

  • Averted: Alice and Bob just sit and talk.
  • Enforced: Showing characters walking and talking is a Necessary Weasel or Characteristic Trope of the show and/or its genre.
  • Lampshaded: "Do we always have these mobile conferences?"
  • Invoked: "Bob, we have no time to sit and chat. I have to go to my meeting, so let's talk on the way there."
  • Exploited: Charlie notices that Alice and Bob always discuss important matters while walking, so takes to following them to listen while they do so, assuming he can pass himself off as innocently walking as well.
  • Defied: "No way, Alice! You mind if we just sit and talk this one out?"
  • Discussed: "Why do Alice and Bob always have to start walking when they have to talk about something? I've got a bad leg, I can't keep up!"
  • Conversed: "I swear they make the characters walk through these exposition scenes so it won't look so boring on camera."
  • Advertisement:
  • Deconstructed: Alice and Bob are so focused on talking that they don't watch where they're going and keep walking into things.
  • Reconstructed: They start paying better attention to their surroundings while they Walk and Talk.
