Basic Trope: Vinyl records shatter easily, and often make glass-like sounds when they do.

  • Straight: Alice accidentally breaks a record by dropping it on the ground, and it shatters like glass.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice accidentally breaks a whole stack of records by bumping into them.
    • Alice barely even touched the record, and it shattered into a million pieces.
  • Downplayed:
    • The record does shatter, but doesn't make glass-like sounds.
    • The record only shatters when held notably roughly.
  • Justified:
    • The record was made of shellac, which actually does break similar to glass.
    • The record is made of vinyl but age and poor storage have rendered it brittle.
  • Inverted: For some reason, a glass plate breaks more like a vinyl record.
  • Subverted: ???
  • Double Subverted: ???
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • The record does not break.
    • There are no vinyl records in the work.
  • Enforced: The Coconut Effect, since many would expect vinyl records to do this.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
