Basic Trope: Pets tend to resemble their owners.

  • Straight: Bob has orange hair and green eyes, and so does his pet cat.
  • Exaggerated:
    • All of the pets resemble their owners.
    • Bob's cat has all of Bob's defining characteristics, such as the scar on his right eye.
  • Downplayed: Bob's cat has the same eye color as him.
  • Justified: Bob specifically wanted to find a cat that looked like him.
  • Inverted: Somehow, owners resemble their pets.
  • Subverted: We see Bob with a cat that looks a lot like him but it's just a random stray cat on the street - it's not his.
  • Double Subverted: Then, Bob realizes it's his long-lost pet and takes it home.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: Some pets resemble their owners, and others don't.
  • Averted: No pets are shown to resemble their owners.
  • Enforced: "I think we should make Bob's cat look like him. It can add some Fridge Brilliance if we do it well."

    • Bob's cat goes missing, and he is able to figure out where his cat is by ask someone else to help him finds a cat that looks like him.
