Basic Trope: A shapeshifter who is technically naked but has shapeshifted clothes out of themselves.
- Straight: Alice shapeshifts clothing out of flaps of skin instead of wearing anything.
- Exaggerated: Alice can create power-armour out of her skin.
- Downplayed: Alice can change the colour of her skin, and uses it to make her look like she's wearing a leotard instead of clothes.
- Justified:
- There are no Magic Pants in-setting, so Alice needs a way to retain modesty while still being flexible enough to fight.
- Alice needs to be seen wearing a fancy dress at the dinner, but she doesn't have the dough for the real deal.
- Inverted:
- Shapeshifting Excludes Clothing.
- Alice can't take off her shapeshifting jumpsuit, but can get technically naked by giving it look and feel of her bare skin.
- Subverted: When Alice's coat is cut, it bleeds, but Alice says that while the coat can shapeshift, she can't.
- Double Subverted: The coat becomes part of the cast and when it reveals its human form, it makes clothes out of shapeshifting-mass.
- Parodied: Alice is normally an Exposed Extraterrestrial, but decides to grow pants just so she can moon someone.
- Zig Zagged: Alice shapeshifts most of her clothing, but still wears normal pants.
- Averted: No-one shapeshifts.
- Enforced: Having Alice constantly have to put on new clothing every time she changed forms would be tiresome, so the creators of the show just had her be able to make new clothing when she shapeshifts.
- Lampshaded:Bob: Doesn't that mean you're... naked?
Alice: Sort of. - Invoked: A mad scientist designs an infiltrator unit with this in mind in case it's caught without a disguise.
- Exploited: Bob annoys Alice by stepping on her coat. Said coat is a part of her, so...
- Defied: "Shapeshifting or no, I'd like to avoid indecent exposure properly. Give me my pants."
- Discussed: So what, you're going to wander around in pants made of yourself?
- Conversed: "I'm not sure weather that's hot, gross, or just weird."
- Implied: We know Alice can shapeshift, and her coat bleeds when cut.
- Deconstructed: Shapeshifted clothes, while good for modesty, don't provide any warmth, hurt when cut, and make it quite painful to pin badges to yourself. Furthermore, the abundance of hairs and sweat pores on such "clothing" make its true nature obvious to close inspection.
- Reconstructed: Any shapeshifter skilled enough to make clothes like this is powerful enough that petty things like cold and pain are no-longer anything to be concerned about.
