Basic Trope: Use of electricity as a weapon.
- Straight: Teravolt can create arcs of electricity to attack enemies. He can also heal himself by absorbing latent power from batteries.
- Exaggerated:
- Teravolt, with a snap of his fingers, can create enough electrical charge to power the entire world for five years.
- Attacking with electricity is standard-fare in the setting.
- Downplayed:
- Teravolt can electrocute people, but only if he is directly touching them or connected by an conductor.
- Teravolt can create Static Electricity.
- Justified: Teravolt got his powers from a Psycho Electric Eel.
- Inverted: Teravolt is superhumanly resistant to electricity.
- Subverted: Most believe that Teravolt is a lightning mage due to his name and costume theme, but it turns out that he can't use electricity at all.
- Double Subverted: And THEN it turns out Teravolt lied.
- Parodied:
- Teravolt is free of electric bills because of his electric powers.
- Teravolt prepares for battle by rubbing his feet on the carpet.
- Zig Zagged: Teravolt shoots bolts of something, but it's not clear whether it's lightning or not.
- Averted: No electricity powers are present in the setting.
- Enforced: "We have fire, we have ice...but something's missing. Something...lightningy. You know what to do, writers."
- Lampshaded: "Of course, lightning isn't supposed to do this, but it is cooler this way."
- Invoked: Teravolt was given a choice of symbolic animal, and chose the eel, with the rationale that "nothing solves a problem like two thousand volts". He then adopted his alias.
- Exploited: The Big Bad uses Teravolt to power his doomsday device.
- Defied: Miniature lightning rods become popular as hats.
- Discussed: "What if you could use lightning?" "I'd probably just end up electrocuting everyone."
- Conversed: "The show's about a guy who's been bitten by a radioactive electric eel and so can control lightning." "But that's so unscienti-" "It's just a show, okay?!"
- Implied: Bob's father used to be superhero Teravolt, but he's been retired for years now.
- Deconstructed: By the end of the first day at job, Teravolt is half-blind, deaf and has completely burned hands because of his powers.
- Reconstructed: His Required Secondary Powers - including extraordinary Healing Factor - start manifesting soon and after a few days he's ready to go.
- Played For Laughs: "Fear my electric powers!" *accidentally hits nearby lightning rod rather than the enemy*
- Played For Drama: "Fear my electric powers!" *accidentally hits a nearby civilian rather than the enemy*
Don't abuse the Shock and Awe powers. You might kill people by way of electrocution.
