Basic Trope: Person (more often than not a wrestler) with unknown birthplace.
- Straight: "Name: Bob. Age: 30. Birthplace: Unknown."
- Exaggerated: "Name: Unknown. Age: Unknown. Birthplace: Unknown."
- Downplayed: "Name: Bob. Age: 30. Birthplace: U.S.A., unknown town."
- Justified:
- Bob is anonymous.
- Bob is a Humanoid Abomination that defies the concept of an "origin".
- Bob hails from a family of drifters, whose cultural roots are so murky that not even his ancestors have a clear idea of what they are.
- "Name: Robert Doe. Age: 30-35. Nationality: Assumed to be Mexican. Diagnosis: Amnesia"
- Subverted: Bob answered in an interview about his birthplace, saying that he was from Mexico.
- Double Subverted:
- ...but the answer was just a joke on April Fool's Day.
- … but that was on an international flight that just happened to be going over the nation.
- Parodied:
- As it turns out "???" is somehow a real place going by that name where Bob was indeed born. Bonus points if it's an Eldritch Location.
- Bob comes from Unknownstan.
- Bo is introduced as being from "parts unknown... parts in-nowan?" He's actually from the town Partson Noane.
- Inverted: Everything is known about Bob.
- Zig Zagged:
- Bob changes information about himself after each fight.
- Alternatively, nothing is known about Bob except for his birthplace.
- Discussed: "So, you're from the Parts Unknown too?"
- Conversed: "Another guy from the Parts Unknown? What's with these guys, not wanting to say where they're from?"
- Enforced: Bob is the Big Bad of a multinational cast, and the creators want to avoid any (invoked) Unfortunate Implications that would come from him being from a specific country.
- Averted: The birthplace of Bob is known. He's Mexican.
