Basic Trope: Characters run away, and/or dive away from, an explosion, for the sake of Rule of Cool.
- Straight: Alice sprints down a hallway as flames from a bomb erupt behind her.
- Exaggerated: She outruns a nuclear shockwave.
- Downplayed: She runs to a safe distance before the bomb goes off.
- Justified:
- She's wearing padded armor strong enough to withstand the shockwaves from explosives that powerful.
- The bomb is an incendiary, so the flames actually are the primary threat.
- Inverted:
- The explosion runs from her.
- Alice runs towards the epicenter of the blast.
- Subverted: The flames consume Alice as she runs...
- Double Subverted: ... then Alice again runs faster than the flames.
- Parodied: She and the explosion are competing in the 100 Meter dash.
- Zig Zagged: ???
- Averted: Alice disarms the bomb before it goes off.
- Enforced:
- The director just loves it when these happen in movies he watched as a kid.
- The range of explosive force by itself is difficult to depict.
- Lampshaded: "I can't fucking believe I survived that. Everything else in there got turned to pulp!"
- Invoked: Alice sets off a bomb in a safe area just to test her new Super-Speed powers.
- Exploited: Alice has the power to become strong from explosions, but only when she's running from them.
- Defied: Alice carries a forcefield, as part of a futuristic bomb squad, so she can protect herself without busting her legs.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
