Basic Trope: A network that caters its programming towards a very specific demographic or interest.

  • Straight: BrideNet shows programming geared towards people with an interest in weddings (i.e. brides-and-grooms-to-be, wedding planners and coordinators, teenage girls dreaming about their future weddings, etc.) The shows it airs feature brides-to-be picking out dresses, DIY projects for weddings, cake-bakers designing and producing elaborate wedding cakes, Bridezillas, premarital counseling Talk Shows, shows about nontraditional weddings, shows about wedding traditions in other countries and cultures, Where Are They Now programs that follow up with newlyweds a year later, and even people's actual wedding and proposal videos. The commercials, too, are all ads for venues, caterers, bridal salons, jewelry stores, florists, photographers, etc.
  • Exaggerated: OutdoorSummerLesbianWeddingNet shows programming catered to those with an interest in outdoor lesbian weddings that take place during the summer.
  • Downplayed: FormalNet shows programming geared towards people with an interest in planning formal events, such as weddings, balls, and fancy dinner parties.
  • Justified:
    • The network wants to gain Ratings from a particular demographic. Namely, brides-to-be (and, to a lesser extent, grooms-to-be) who are planning out their weddings. It's a very niche and Fleeting Demographic, but if enough engaged people and wedding planners watch it, it could work.
    • It's a supplement to a magazine, blog, or website.
    • It's for recent refugees to keep their morale up.
  • Inverted: BNet is a variety channel, showing programming that is geared towards multiple demographics, with a variety of interests. Everyone from science Geeks to movie buffs to DIY-enthusiasts to Otaku to foodies to women of color get something that caters to their interests.
  • Subverted:
    • Most of BrideNet's programming is related to weddings, but there is occasional non-wedding-related content in there as well.
    • BrideNet goes off the air, due to low Ratings.
  • Double Subverted: Most of the non-wedding-related content is geared towards women, who are going to be the most likely to watch the channel. And even that gets phased out as the network decides to specialize in weddings.
  • Parodied: Every interest and demographic you can possibly think of gets its own channel.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: The channel doesn't specialize in any one interest or demographic.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: "BrideNet: all weddings, all the time."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: "There’s an entire network just for wedding stuff? Do they have trouble funding it?"
  • Conversed: ???
