Basic Trope: A problem becomes an omnipresent part of a character's life, stealing their normality.

  • Straight: Bob contracts the curse of Vertendon Reerring, which perpetually attracts his enemies to him. If he doesn't keep his guard up at all times, someone will get him.
  • Exaggerated: Bob contracts the curse of Vertendon Reering, which attracts his enemies, animals and monsters, diseases, other curses, and unwanted merchants. If he doesn't keep his guard up at all times, someone will get him before the day ends.
  • Downplayed: Bob contracts the curse of Vertendon Reerring, which attracts his enemies to him more than before. If he doesn't keep his guard up, there's a greater chance than before someone could get him.
  • Justified: Bob works in a highly dangerous profession (such as an international spy or professional assassin), and having a lot of enemies out to get him is simply a part of his job description.
  • Inverted: Bob is the terror. He uses methods that keep his targets constantly guessing when and where he'll strike so that they never have a moment's peace.
  • Subverted: Bob is delusional/paranoid, and the problems he comes across are not as bad as he's convinced it is.
  • Double Subverted: Someone is gaslighting him to make him go insane, and get him once he is no longer capable of defending himself.
  • Parodied: Bob contracts the curse of Vertendon Reerring. If he doesn't keep his guard up at all times, he'll wind up with horrifying problems like perpetual bedhead or spots of sauce on his clothing.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: All problems within the story have a fairly accessible escape clause.
  • Enforced: The author wants to give an in-story reason why Bob can never settle in one place.
  • Lampshaded:
Bob: I can't get away from it now. This curse is part of my life.
  • Invoked: Emperor Evulz gets Bob cursed with an inescapable curse so his enemy will always be harried.
  • Exploited: Emperor Evulz, knowing that Bob's curse attracts his enemies to him, sends out raiding parties to attack Bob more than before, knowing they'll have less trouble finding them.
  • Defied:
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
