Basic Trope: The flow of time on a time counter currently not onscreen works differently.
- Straight: Doctor Destruction sets a timer on a world-ending bomb to go off in one minute. Bob fights him in the other room for two minutes, and the bomb has thirty seconds left on it when they return.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob fights Doctor Destruction for five minutes. Only ten seconds have passed on the timer.
- Bob fights Doctor Destruction for only ten seconds. The bomb has five seconds left on it when they return.
- Downplayed: The bomb is set to go off in one minute. Bob fights Doctor Destruction for one minute, and the bomb has seven seconds left on it when they return.
- Justified:
- Doctor Destruction's bomb was planted where time makes no sense.
- Doctor Destruction's bomb is defective.
- Inverted: The bomb stays inactive until it is off-screen.
- Subverted:
- Doctor Destruction's bomb seems to have slowed down, but when Doctor Destrcution comes back, he reveals that the bomb was a decoy.
- The bomb scenes happened during the same time frame as the combat scenes, not in-between them

- Double Subverted: Only for the REAL bomb to be slower and have a longer timer.
- Parodied:
- Bob fights Doctor Destruction for six hours. When they return to the timer, only one second has passed.
- The bomb adds and removes seconds to the clock depending on who, where, and how something looks at it and even has a built-in spreadsheet that it uses as a reference.
- The bomb instantly explodes the moment Bob so much as glances at it.
- Bob actually manages to disable the bomb with time to spare... but the timer keeps ticking down to one anyway before shutting down gracefully.
- Zig-Zagged: A cut to Bob and Doctor Destruction fighting for ten seconds, followed by 15 seconds passing on the bomb's timer. Then cutting back to the fighting for another 20 seconds, and 15 more seconds pass on the timer. Then a third cut to the action for 15 seconds, and exactly 15 more seconds pass on the timer.
- Averted:
- The fight between Bob and Doctor Destruction takes place in real-time.
- The bomb detonates manually.
- The bomb is always on-screen during the fight.
- The bomb is set for the exact amount of time needed for the fight.
- There is no bomb or other timer.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: "Huh. I could have sworn that I was fighting with him for longer... Maybe my watch is slow."
- Invoked: The last bomb Doctor Destruction manufactured was this close to detonating before being defused by Bob. To outplay him in the future rematch, Doctor Destruction made the latest bomb count down faster than normal whenever Bob wasn't nearby.
- Exploited: Bob avoids looking at the bomb while fighting Doctor Destruction, stalling the bomb long enough to defuse it.
- Defied: Doctor Destruction takes every precaution to make sure the bomb works properly.
