Basic Trope: A character asks their spouse or significant other to procreate.

  • Straight: Alice and Bob are in their late thirties or early forties and have three children at home. Alice wants to have another baby while she still can, but Bob doesn't.
  • Exaggerated: Alice and Bob are in their early twenties and only started dating recently. They both want to marry, but have very different plans for the future: Alice wants to have a large family, but Bob doesn't even want one child.
  • Downplayed:
    • Alice and Bob have ten children. Alice thinks it would be nice to have another, but knows that Bob doesn't want to, and so says nothing.
    • Sometimes Alice wishes that she had one more child, but usually, she doesn't.
  • Justified:
