Basic Trope: A Fan Fic where the characters are high school students.

  • Straight: There's fantasy series called Alice and Bob in the Jungle of Mystery. Someone writes a fanfiction of it with Alice, Bob, and the rest of the cast as teens and in school titled Alice and Bob in High School.
  • Exaggerated: Even those who are older or younger than the main cast are high school students in the fic.
  • Downplayed:
    • One character in the fanfic turns into a teen and goes to high school.
    • Advertisement:
    • Alice and Bob are teenagers who are high school aged, but school is not a prominent setting.
  • Justified:
    • Time travel was involved.
    • This story is set before the events of the series and is trying to explain Alice and Bob's backstory.
    • Alice and Bob are canonically mentioned to have known each other since they were in high school.
  • Inverted: A series where the characters are high school students has a fanfic of them as adults.
  • Subverted: It turns out to be All Just a Dream.
  • Double Subverted: But then Alice wakes up from the dream and finds she's sixteen again and late for school.
  • Parodied: Something ridiculous gets a High School AU.
  • Averted: The characters are not rewritten as high school students.
  • Zigzagged: It's set in a high school and Alice and Bob are students, Charlie and Dave who were children in the series are teachers and Emily and Freda who were an old couple in the series have become children.
  • Advertisement:
  • Enforced: In an episode, Alice mentions a Noodle Incident that happened in high school to Bob, and the fanfic writer tries to explain that.
  • Lampshaded: "Wait...yesterday we were in the Jungle of Mystery, now we're in high school!?"
  • Invoked: At the beginning of the fanfic, the Big Bad sends them back in time to their high school days.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied:
  • Discussed: "Why are we in high school? Why are you fifteen and I'm seventeen? Where's the Jungle of Mystery?"
  • Conversed: "High school fanfics are okay, but only if they don't take away the magic because the magic's the reason why I watch the show."
