Basic Trope: One of the characters has a pet creature, which like to sit on the character's head.
- Straight: Bob has a pet bird which really likes to sit in his head.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob has a big fluffy persian cat, which constantly climbs on Bob's legs and back to ride his head.
- Bob's dog sits on his head. A cat sits on the dog's head, a rabbit sits on the cat's head, and a bird sits on the rabbit's head, forming a large stack of pets.
- Downplayed: Bob's pet likes not to sit on Bob's head, but on Bob's hat.
- Justified:
- The said pet likes high places.
- The said pet is shy and finds its safe place on Bob's head.
- Inverted:
- Whenever Bob sits in his armchair, his dog lies in his feet.
- A bird always sits atop the head of Bob, their pet human.
- Subverted: Bob's pet sits on his head. He waves his hand, telling it to go away.
- Double Subverted: The bird is so desperate in its attempts to land on Bob's head that Bob finally decides to allow it to sit on his head, just for fun.
- Parodied: Bob has a pet hippo which always tries to jump on Bob's head, which always results in him tackling Bob and kicking him off his feet.
- Zig Zagged: Bob's bird is seen either hanging from the beams or sitting on Bob's head.
- Enforced: The head-riding bird is a good idea for an unusual hat.
- Averted: Bob's pet never targets his head.
- Lampshaded: "I bet his hair is always messy and dirty."
- Invoked: "Here, this is George, my little friend. He likes to sit on my head, so I will never lose him if something happens."
- Exploited: Comes along with Invoked: Bob's pet always finds him in a big crowd, because it knows his head better than anyone.
- Defied: "There is your perch! Now go away from my head!"
- Discussed: "Maybe little fella just likes Bob's hair? Thick enough - a nice hideout."
- Conversed: "I'd look at you going around with a bat on the head, like this guy."
- Implied: "They said it likes high places, and Bob has no tall furniture in his house..."
- Deconstructed: Bob's bird rests in his head for too much, resulting in his hair being always dirty. Not to mention it constantly poops on his head.
- Reconstructed:
- Bob somehow trains his bird to warn him when it wants to defecate.
- Bob finds a hat convenient both for him to wear and for his bat to seat.
