Basic Trope: A character who is hated by everyone.
- Straight: Alex is hated by every character in the world.
- Exaggerated:
- Everyone hates Alex so much that they want to make him miserable at any chance.
- Even Alex hates himself.
- Alex is so hated that not even death wants him, making Alex immortal.
- Downplayed: Only a few characters tolerate Alex's presence.
- Justified:
- Alex is just an unpleasant Jerkass to everyone he meets.
- Alex had done something that was seriously horrible that earns him the hatred of everyone on earth, even the villains.
- Alex is a Cosmic Plaything; the gods designed him to be a punching bag to everyone he meets.
- Alex is a bigot.
- Alex is a truly evil and sadistic human being who is far more evil than Emperor Evulz.
- Alex is seen as the Antichrist despite his kind nature proving anything but.
- Alex had unintentionally put the entire world (or at least the rest of the cast) in danger through his cluelessness and/or clumsiness.
- Alex is the only character to be shown to have barely, if any redeemable or altruistic traits going for him, basically making him hated by everyone else in the story, regardless of who they are.
- Inverted:
- Subverted:
- It turns out that there is a small number of people who treat Alex warmly.
- Alex turns out to have an Only Friend.
- Double Subverted:
- They're just stringing him along for their own personal benefit, and as soon as he outlives his usefulness he's tossed out like yesterday's garbage.
- Alex's Only Friend sees him as The Friend Nobody Likes.
- Parodied:
- Alex is entirely unaware he's hated by everyone, his cheerful demeanour only interrupted by acting confused at the huge mob confronting him.
- Alex wins the poll of the most hated person in the universe, with Emperor Evulz being the first runner-up.
- Zig-Zagged: In some episodes, people hate Alex's guts, while in others, people treat Alex well or at least tolerate his presence.
- Averted: Some people like Alex while some others dislike him.
- Enforced:
- The author created Alex to represent what he thinks is a Acceptable to mock.
- The author created Alex to be unlikable so that everyone can have someone to hate.
- Sadist Show.
- Lampshaded: "Why does everyone hate me so much?"
- Invoked: Alex pulls off a Zero-Approval Gambit that works out with extreme success in both the end goals and destroying his own reputation.
- Exploited:
- Emperor Evulz, who is Alex's Arch-Enemy, brainwashes people into hating him so that he will finally defeat him and Take Over the World.
- Alex's superpowers involve being fueled by The Power of Hate, specifically others having negative opinions of him, so he makes himself as deplorable, annoying, and unlikable as realistically possible in order for others around him to hate him and thus, fuel his own powers.
- Defied:
- Nice Girl Bethany befriends Alex so he can have at least one friend.
- Jerkass and Hate Sink Alex endures an excruciating Trauma Conga Line that forces him to confront the reality of his unlovable and unwanted status. This motivates him to change his ways for the better and amend his many wrongs. Over time, many characters gradually accept that his newfound kindness is genuine and not feigned; agreeing that he has paid for his abhorrent behavior. They acknowledge his self-deprecating humility and that he has turned over a new leaf.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Deconstructed:
- Alex, if he's a Nice Guy, becomes fed up with the hatred of others and decides to return the hatred in kind.
- Alex, who has done a lot of bad things, tries to make an effort to change his ways to get people to change their minds about him, but because people hate him so much, they refuse to forgive him. This causes Alex to snap and call everyone out of their treatment of him. He calls out the heroes for being self-righteous hypocritical assholes who are no better in their treatment of him and then calls out the villains for doing a lot worse than him.
- Alex exiles himself from society. There's no point in living in a world where everyone hates you.
- Everyone just likes dumping on Alex to make themselves feel better, when the reality is far more complex.
- Reconstructed:
- This in turn only gives everyone a reason to hate him even more since he has chosen the life of a villain.
- Unfortunately for Alex, his rant fell into deaf ears and he is hated even more, making this a losing battle.
- Alex meets a few characters, like Flash, Kayla, and some others, who were also hated by everyone similarly and forms a meaningful bond with them.
- Played For Drama:
- Being hated by the whole entire world causes Alex to become severely depressed and commits suicide to escape everyone's seething hatred.
- The hatred against Alex eventually culminates in a mob brutally murdering him in cold blood. Extra points if there was no justification for everyone's hatred against him.
