Basic Trope: A white Western character in (usually) East Asian setting who's played for Fanservice.

  • Straight: Japanese characters find Eline, a Dutch girl and resident token white of a medium sized Japanese town, attractive because of her blonde hair, blue eyes, tall height, and large chest.
  • Exaggerated: Eline is considered the most beautiful woman in Japan specifically because of her looks contrasting typical Japanese beauty standards. A beauty aura brighter than her blond hair shines around her whenever she's on screen.
  • Downplayed:
    • Eline is biracial, but still has the assets of a typical Dutch beauty.
    • Eline has a look typical of a Japanese woman minus her face obviously, but is still seen as extremely attractive and exotic regardless.
  • Justified: Eline is not only a beautiful Dutch woman in general, but because she's in a nation or area that's pretty homogenous, Japanese boys find an exotic novelty in her looks they don't see everywehre.
  • Inverted: Mai is a Japanese woman in a small town in the Netherlands, the token Asian resident in fact, and is seen as attractive by Dutch boys because of her dark eyes, Raven Hair, Ivory Skin, and other Yamato Nadeshiko qualities.
  • Subverted:
    • Japanese boys like Eline because of her personality, which isn't even stereotypically Dutch, instead of her looks.
    • Eline is a Japanese woman that only looks Dutch.
    • Advertisement:
    • Eline wears contacts, dyes her hair, uses makeup, and wears a modified bra, meaning her "foreign" fanservice attributes aren't real.
  • Double Subverted:
    • Japanese boys admit liking Eline for her personality was just a ruse and they really do find her foreign looks hot. Once Eline also reveals her love for Dutch traditions and mannerisms, Japanese boys find it too cute and love her more.
    • Eline turns out to only be a Japanese national, and is still an ethnic Dutch.
    • Eline's natural hair color is red, her actual eyes are green, has cute freckles under her makeup and her bra was meant to make her look less busty than she is. Therefore, she's still Foreign Fanservice but of another variety not typical to Japan.
  • Parodied: Eline has Gag Boobs and speaks in the most stereotypical Dutch accent possible which while making her a ditsy and annoying bimbo, still has the Japanese boys falling for her even though they don't return the favor to local Japanese girls with those traits.
  • Advertisement:
  • Zig-Zagged: Eline has blue eyes, but dark hair like a typical Japanese girl, she also is of average height and doesn't stand out from afar, but she's still bustier than her Japanese friends which she blames on her European heritage. She also is regarded as attractive, but her fans vary from finding her more Japanese characteristics attractive to finding her more European traits to die for.
  • Averted: Eline has her foreign Dutch looks, but is otherwise drawn and regarded as average at best. Nothing about her is played for fanservice or as an exotic beauty.
  • Enforced: In a harem series, the publishers make the writers and illustrators add a foreign girl with non Japanese looks in order to appeal to both western fans and Japanese fans that like more European traits.
  • Lampshaded: "I guess the main export of the Dutch is blond beauties."
  • Invoked: Eline's dating app or gimmick in a Japanese beauty contest always makes light of her being a foreigner with rare blond hair, blue eyes and an above average height and bust.
  • Exploited: Eline plays herself up as a Dutch beauty to catch the attention of Japanese boys and give her an edge in the dating market.
  • Defied: Eline's looks aren't seen as attractive by those around her because of how foreign it is, prompting Eline to dye her hair black and wear dark eye contacts to fit in.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Japanese girls begin to "other" Eline and accuse her and other European women from using their foreign looks to "steal" Japanese boys because they can't appeal to them in any other way. Eline too feels othered as she feels the only reason people like her is because of her foreign looks and not because of who she is.
  • Reconstructed: Eline learns to be proud of her looks and feels that if they bring joy to Japanese boys, than it's a total positive and makes her feel unique as well.
