Basic Trope: Smart people need to eat a lot of sugar to fuel their brains.

  • Straight: Dara is an A+ student who is constantly snacking on cookies, candies and other sugary snacks.
  • Exaggerated: Dara subsists entirely on glucose and this allows her to solve complex partial differential equations in milliseconds.
  • Downplayed: Dara has above average intelligence and prefers sweets over savoury snacks.
  • Justified:
    • Truth in Television. Glucose is the main source of energy for brain.
    • Dara is a Child Prodigy, and in spite of her genius, she's still a kid both physically and at heart, and as such she loves sweets.
  • Inverted: Eating too much sweets causes Dara's IQ to drop.
  • Subverted: Dara is feeling sluggish and asks for a candy to help her recover. She throws up instead.
  • Double Subverted: Because the candy is lemon-flavoured and she detests lemons. She then eats a bar of chocolate, and immediately gains an IQ boost that allows her to ace her homework and projects.
  • Parodied: Eating Chocolate-Frosted Sugar Bombs can turn people into geniuses for 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the sugar high also reduces their common sense by 99%, which means that nobody ever achieves anything useful during their brief period of super intelligence.
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Dara has no particular affinity towards sweets despite her superior intelligence.
  • Enforced: The show is made/sponsored by a sweets company, so the producers want to give them a positive Product Placement by making them The Smart Guy's preferred choice of snack.
  • Lampshaded: "Give me back my cake! I need sugar to study!"
  • Invoked: Dara's school provides a candy bowl for students to consume before classes to boost their performance.
  • Exploited: Sweets manufactureres market their products as intelligence boosters to increase their sales.
  • Defied: Dara's doctor forbids her from eating too much sweets, saying that while the brain does need glucose to function, sugar doesn't boost intelligence, and will not do anything to help one think after a certain amount.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Dara becomes diabetic due to her sugar overconsumption.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Dara does regular exercise to burn off the excess sugar. And, hey, studies prove that sports help boost brain function as well, so that's a double benefit.
    • Dara immediately begins research on a perfect cure for diabetes and, after some effort, succeeds.
