Basic Trope: The ability of the Player Character to do a mid-air jump after the initial jump.
- Straight: In Alice's Amazing Adventure: Antithesis, Alice has the special ability to jump off of thin air once she leaves the ground.
- Exaggerated:
- All the enemies, player characters, non-player characters, and even some types of box can double jump.
- Alice can octuple-jump.
- Alice can achieve Video Game Flight by repeatedly mid-air-jumping.
- The mid-air jump is very powerful, sending Alice very high up in the air, compared to relatively short normal jump.
- Downplayed: Alice can stall in mid-air, giving her a smidgen of vertical momentum, but not nearly enough to be considered a second jump.
- Justified:
- Alice has Rocket Boots.
- Alice has telekinesis.
- Alice can manipulate ki.
- Subverted: Alice, who can't double jump, comes across a pit with two arrows in the shape of a double jump. When she picks up a pair of "D.Jump Boots", she gets the instruction "Press Jump in mid-air to use". She jumps across the pit and hits Jump where the arrows meet... and she ends up doing a dive jump.
- Double Subverted: After Alice dives headfirst into the pit, she finds a pair of "2-Jump Wings" in there, which she uses to get back up and complete the jump.
- Averted:
- Alice can only jump once.
- Alice can't jump at all.
- There is no gravity, making the notion of a "jump" meaningless.
- Enforced: In the original Alice's Amazing Adventure, there was a Good Bad Bug that allowed Alice to double jump, and fans were outraged when it got patched, so it became an Ascended Glitch in the sequel.
- Discussed:
Bob: How will we get across that pit?
Alice: We could double-jump across!
Bob: I didn't bring the Double Jump badge, sorry.
Alice: We could double-jump across!
Bob: I didn't bring the Double Jump badge, sorry.
