Basic Trope: The Hero is Oblivious to Love.
- Straight: Charles is The Hero and always defeats Emperor Evulz. Women have shown affection toward him on a number of occasions, but he's Oblivious to Love.
- Exaggerated: Charles is a Chick Magnet with 100 self-proclaimed girlfriends, but thinks of them as nothing more than The Load.
- Downplayed: Charles has a canonical "Love Interest" in Alice. She's in love with him, but he thinks they're Platonic Life-Partners or Just Friends.
- Justified:
- Charles isn't the brightest thing on two legs.
- If Charles is a Kid Hero, he doesn't understand the concept of love yet.
- Inverted:
- Charles is a Casanova Wannabe, while the women on the show are Oblivious to Love.
- Emperor Evulz is blind to the allure his power and charisma afford him, no matter how many would-be consorts throw themselves at his feet.
- Gender-Inverted:
- In a Five-Man Band, The Chick is unaware that all the men love her.
- In a Gender-Inverted Five-Man Band, The Leader is unaware that The Heart (the only male team member) loves her.
- Subverted: It turns out that Charles understands love. He was just pretending not to understand because he's uninterested or asexual.
- Double Subverted: His even dumber sidekick, Ivan, is still clueless as to why most women like him.
- Parodied: Charles has never heard the word "love" before. When a woman says "I love you" and kisses him, he looks up the word "love" in a dictionary. Even after looking it up, he still doesn't get it.
- Zig Zagged: ???
- Averted:
- Charles understands love and is aware that women are in love with him.
- No woman loves Charles.
- Enforced: "We want to show our hero as mildly insane, but lovable. Let's make him Oblivious to Love."
- Lampshaded: "I love you, Charles." "Why do women keep saying that to me?"
- Invoked: Charles knows what love is at first, but then Emperor Evulz erases it from his brain.
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: Charles asks what "love" is.
- Discussed: "At least I know you're in love with me. Some airhead 'heroes' don't understand love."
- Conversed: "Why doesn't Charles understand that those women are in love with him?"
- Implied: Women often look at Charles and sigh, but he never seems to notice.
- Played For Laughs: As a Running Gag, Charles always has to push past his Unwanted Harem to go between Troperville and Emperor Evulz's castle. (The women surround the city.) Sometimes he tells them, "Move aside, ladies, or I'll use my enchanted sword on you!", but it's always an empty threat.
- Played For Drama: It's not an empty threat; Charles kills several of his lovers with the sword.
