Basic Trope: A positive, over-the-top reaction to an alcoholic drink.

  • Straight: Alice takes a sip of beer, then shouts, "Aahh!" really loudly, punches the air, and shouts, "Whoop!"
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice was a mess of tears up until that one sip of beer, whereupon she instantly became very happy.
    • Alice sips the beer, then starts a musical number about how awesome the beer is.
  • Downplayed: Alice says, "Mm, this beer is pretty good" in a slightly happy but not too excited voice.
  • Justified:
    • This is Alice's first time drinking alcohol and thinks it's a sign she's an adult now.
    • Alice just really loves the beer.
    • Alice Can't Hold Her Liquor and is a happy drunk.
    • Alice was really thirsty.
    • Alice is at a party and thinks of the first drink as the start of the party.
    • Alice is just very expressive.
    • Alice really wanted some beer, for one reason or another.
    • Alice finally found some alcohol she likes. Everything else had been barely palatable or unenjoyable for her.
  • Inverted: Alice takes a sip of A Tankard of Moose Urine, then spits it out and shouts, "People actually drink this stuff on purpose?!"
  • Subverted: Alice was faking the pleasure in order to butter up Bob, who served her the beer.
  • Double Subverted: Then, she offers some to Carol, who has a completely genuine and equally over-the-top positive reaction.
  • Parodied:
    • Alice literally has an orgasm because of the beer.
    • Alice has this kind of reaction about a NON-alcoholic drink.
  • Zigzagged:
    • It's hard to tell if Alice is faking her reaction or not.
    • Alice punches the air and says, "Whoop!", Bob says, "Mm, tastes pretty good", Carol remains neutral, and Dave spits it out in disgust.
  • Averted:
    • Nobody drinks alcohol.
    • People drink alcohol, but don't have a hammy reaction.
  • Enforced: The writers got permission from an actual beer company to include their beer in the film. The beer company told the writers to have Alice be overly happy about their beer, so that they can use it in ads.
  • Lampshaded: "You're excited for that one glass of beer, Alice!"
  • Invoked:
  • Exploited:
    • Bob made the beer, so he films Alice being excited over it and uses it as an ad.
    • Bob knows that this beer makes people really happy, so he uses it to cheer people up.
  • Defied: Alice does love the beer a lot, but, for whatever reason, she decides to remain stoic.
  • Discussed: "I had this uncle who would make a huge deal over any alcoholic drink he liked. People would be like, 'Did you win the lottery?!' and he'd be like, 'Nope, this beer is just amazing!'."
  • Conversed: "Why do characters always make such a big deal about alcohol?"
  • Implied: A voice in the background offers beer, and then a second voice says, "Wow!"
  • Deconstructed:
  • Reconstructed:
  • Played for Laughs:
  • Played for Drama:

Back to Beergasm and when you're there, take a sip of their amazing alcohol!
