Basic Trope: A character eats while around a corpse (or sometimes in a similar gruesome circumstance), usually to show how jaded they are.
- Straight: Alice and Bob are doing an autopsy, and they start eating a meal during this time.
- Exaggerated: Alice and Bob have an entire three-course feast while simultaneously performing an autopsy.
- Downplayed: Alice and/or Bob simply drink some coffee.
- Justified: Alice and Bob are very used to their job, to the point in which eating while around a dead body doesn't bother them at all.
- Inverted: While Alice and Bob are eating at a restaurant, someone suddenly dies, and they ditch their meal in favor of examining the body.
- Subverted: ???
- Double Subverted: ???
- Parodied: Autopsy technicians are given free snacks during their job.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Nobody eats while around any sort of squicky circumstances.
- Enforced: To show how used to their job Alice and Bob are.
- Lampshaded: ???
- Invoked: "Should we get something to eat, Alice? I'm starting to get a little hungry after that examination."
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: Charlie tells Alice and Bob not to eat during the autopsy.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Deconstructed:
- Alice and/or Bob get sick, due to getting a disease from the corpse.
- Alice and Bob are accused of unprofessional/disrespectful conduct because of said eating right next to the dead and even with the best "they are the absolute best coroners around, your Honor, it's just a harmless quirk!" defense they are still left treading on thin ice.
- Alice and/or Bob taint the evidence (accidentally or not) by exposing it to food crumbs/condiments/DNA of their bodies that was carried in those crumbs or condiments, which leads to the investigation being derailed if not outright destroyed.
