Pantheonic Soldiers of Fortune

"Profit is sweet, even if it comes from deception."

The Pantheon is full of folks from all walks of life. This includes mercenaries. And there are a lot of them. It's true that there's Boba Fett, God of Bounty Hunters keeping things organized, but that's only for his followers, not other mercenary deities. But after hearing of (and getting involved with) several tangles as a result of mercs getting in each other's way in regards to bounties, protection jobs, or heists, Fett decided it was high time an official guild was formed in the Pantheon for all mercenary deities, and thus the mercenaries guild Soldiers of Fortune was born. Even with a large-scale ceasefire between bigger factions like the Alliances, there are plenty of neutral third-parties and potential clients that would still demand the services of such mercenaries.

Situated in the sub-House of Hunters, Soldiers of Fortune is a den where all the Pantheon's bounty hunters congregate. There are a few rules to be upheld while within the premises, however (outside is still fair game): no stealing another's bounty being delivered, no assassinations against each other or any clients (grudges must be personal and should have no money involved), and no grudge matches.

  • Inclination: As long as they're not working with the modern Mann Co. Mercenaries, or if they're working against them.

  • Job Loyalty: Dependent on pay, and as long as they don't find any worth in keeping what you want them to get for themselves.
  • Job Betrayal: Depends on the bounty.
  • Efficiency: Fairly high.
  • Threat Level: High.

    Ciggma Khint

  • Efficiency: Dependent on the money paid.
  • Threat Level: Medium-High
  • Khint is known for his dynamic contract fee depending on how dire of a battle he is in, even going to exorbitant levels if he feels he could die. However, because Death Is Cheap, the upper limit has been lessened dramatically.

    Geralt of Rivia
Geralt of Rivia, The God Covered with Scars (White Wolf, Whitelocks, Gwynbleidd, Butcher of Blaviken, Sword of Destiny, Ravix of Fourhorn, King-Slayer, White One, Vatt'ghern, Geralt Roger Eric du Haute-Bellegarde, Recipient of the Order of Vitis Vinifera, Monster Slayer – Deadly in Combat, Hater of Portals, The Witcher)

  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: Wolf School Witcher’s Medallion
  • Theme Song: Geralt of Rivia, Toss A Coin To Your Witcher (In-Universe)
  • Alignment: Pretends to be True Neutral. His real alignment jumps all over the place, though he’s more often Good than anything else.
  • Inclination: Anything, though he gravitates to Good more often than he'd prefer.
  • Job Preference: Bodyguarding, Assassinations, Monster Hunting (though he has a specific definition for Monster), most anything else
  • Job Loyalty: Depending on the job. He will not run in the face of danger, though. At least not for long.
  • Job Betrayal: If he's been bamboozled into violating his Witcher Code, he's turning on his contractor as soon as he can (whether or not he can get as much money as he can out of the deal depends on the situation).
  • Efficiency: High.
  • Threat Level: He's killed his fair share of large and powerful creatures, among them the Wild Hunt. And his new titles "The European Jedi" and "The Medieval Batman" are titles well-earned.
  • The only monsters he hunts are the literal kind, and the morality-depraved kind. Sympathetic monsters, or people being hunted just for being socially different (i.e. homosexual) don't count.

    Deadpool
Wade Winston Wilson, God of the Fourth Wall and Breaking it (Deadpool, The Merc With The Mouth, The Regenerating Degenerate, The Crimson Comedian)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image9.jpg
Don't worry tropers, I won't burn down the Pantheon. Well, maybe.
  • Lesser God/Overdeity (depends on how much the writer is willing to let me look past the Fourth Wall)
  • Symbol: My belt buckle icon of myself (which I KNOW you totally want one, buddy) with a yellow text box. Oh, how fun they are! :)
  • Alignment: Chaotic Good, ever since I became an Avenger
  • Inclination: I'd say none, but given I got a lot of "pals" on the Good side, I guess I'm inclined there.
  • Job Preference: I'll do anything and everything!
  • Job Loyalty: You bet your ass I'll stick to the job 'til the end! I even went and killed someone who stole my contract once! That's how dependable I am!
  • Job Betrayal: Hmm… now that's a toughie. Usually depends on my client.
  • Efficiency: I gotta say I'm a pretty damn good merc! High! I might goof off along the way, but I'll see to it that I do my thing!
  • Threat Level: Depends on how much the writer is willing to let me look past the Fourth Wall. Medium-High to EXTREME!

    Lockdown
Lockdown, God of Creepy Souvenirs

    Zaeed Massani
Zaeed Massani, God of Those Who Would've Normally Been Dead (The Mercenary Veteran, The Veteran, Co-Founder of the Blue Suns, Mass Effect's "Chuck Norris")
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_1263.PNG
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: His old M-8 Avenger rifle, "Jessie", alongside a couple of Inferno Grenades. Alternatively, the Blue Suns logo tattooed on his neck.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (though he veers into Chaotic Good when working with Shepard)
  • Inclination: Anti-Evil, and usually defers to Commander Shepard
  • Job Preference: Kill, Secure, Breach, Capture (less of the last one)
  • Job Loyalty: Medium. Unshakeable is Shepard's the "client", but then it wouldn't be a job.
  • Job Betrayal: Medium, esepcially if he thinks he might get double-crossed or if there are children in the crossfire. None if Shepard's the "client", who's generally a good person anyway.
  • Efficiency: He was once a high-ranking member of a mercenary company, and he's done quite a few missions under Shepard.
  • Threat Level: Deceptively high. He once killed a krogan commander with a knife. Krogan, it should be noted, are strong enough to bench press cars and tough enough that bullets may occasionally outright bounce off their faces. Damn.

    Jamison Fawkes/Junkrat and Mako Rutledge/Roadhog
Jamison Fawkes and Mako Rutledge, Divine Fat and Skinny Duo (Both: The Junkers | Fawkes: Junkrat, Junker Demolitionist, Dr. Jamison Junkenstein, Junk, Rat, Trashmouse, Garbageweasel, Spamrat | Rutledge: Roadhog, Pigface, Streetpig, Pathpiglet, Routboar, Junkenstein's Monster)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/junkers.png
Junkrat and Roadhog on a regular day
  • Lesser Gods
  • Symbols: A yellow smiley face with X-ed out eyes (Junkrat), the pig face on his belly (Roadhog)
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral with Evil leanings
  • Inclination: Anti-Machine. Also, as long as you're not hiring them on behalf of a corp, they won't automatically refuse.
  • Job Preference: Demolitions, Heists
  • Job Loyalty: Junkrat loves his work, and Roadhog has his reasons for sticking with him.
  • Job Betrayal: Tricking and double-crossing them is the best way to turn them against you.
  • Efficiency: Decent.
  • Threat Level: High.
  • Despite Junkrat having a large enough bounty on him due to something he possesses, they're safe in the premises not only because of the rules, but because of Roadhog arranging things with Fett and Karga to ensure it.

    Jack Cayman
Jack Cayman, Unholy Torturer of Mooks (Just Jack, Jack the Chaser, Chaserman Jack, Deathwatcher Jack, The Wiley Crocodile)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anarchy_reigns___jack.png
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: The Skull and cross-wrenches on his back along with his weapon, Gator Tooth.

  • Inclination: Slight inclinations to good, though moreso to act on the dirty business they can't handle.
  • Job Preference: Bounty Hunting, Private Investigation, Assassination
  • Job Loyalty: High, though there have been instances of him going rogue or being on the verge of doing so for personal reasons (e.g. dealing with especially monstrous Corrupt Corporate Executives or his daughter's killer)
  • Job Betrayal: None
  • Efficiency: High
  • Threat Level: High
  • Generally not recommended to send waves of goons after them to impede his progress. The four games of DeathWatch he has under his belt and the mountains of corpses he amassed to achieve said feats speak for themselves.

    Erron Black
Erron Black, The God with the Marked Bullet (The Wandering Fool [by Kitana])
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/erron.png
  • Lesser God
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, with True Neutral leanings
  • Inclination: No real inclination, but he's mostly under Kotal Kahn's employ.
  • Job Preference: Assassinations
  • Job Loyalty: Medium-High
  • Job Betrayal: Low
  • Efficiency: If it can be killed with a bullet, he'll see the job through.
  • Threat Level: Given he's gone toe-to-toe with other Mortal Kombatants, pretty Medium-High.

     Black Spy and White Spy
Black Spy and White Spy, The Co-Gods of Knowing The Other's Plans and Suspecting That (Black Spy: Black, Joke, Cloak. White Spy: White, Dagger)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spy_vs_spy.png
Black Spy and White Spy. I know, it's hard to tell them apart
  • Lesser Gods
  • Symbol: Their hats. Alternatively, black and white bombs.
  • Theme Song: Either Spy VS Spy or this
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Inclination: None, as long as they're against one another. But they have cooperated a few times.
  • Job Preference: Espionage, Sabotage
  • Job Loyalty: Good.
  • Job Betrayal: Low.
  • Efficiency: Surprisingly good enough.
  • Threat Level: With all their traps, trickery, and foresight, these Spies are surprisingly decent threats.
  • Special Info

    Prohyas and Vambre Warrior
Prohyas and Vambre Warrior, Divine Wielders of Oddly-Shaped Swords (Warriors for Hire | Prohyas: Matron of Honor, P-Hammer, Pro Bono, Accessory Jones, The Goofy Gladiator, Prohyas Robert Warrior, The Human Magisword Bag | Vambre: Vim-Vam, Vams, Vambre Marie Warrior, The Bookish Brute, Vam-Buritto Grande Supremo )
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spa_mighty_magiswords.png
Left: Prohyas, Right: Vambre
  • Lesser Deities
  • Symbol: Their Magiswords. Alternatively, their "Warriors for Hire" sign
  • Alignment: Neutral Good with heavy bouts of Chaotic
  • Inclination: Good
  • Job Preference: Bodyguarding, Treasure Hunt, Rescue, Escort, as long as no lives are being lost, and if there's a Magisword to earn.
  • Job Loyalty: Medium. Higher if there's a Magisword for a reward.
  • Job Betrayal: Low, unless a better Magisword is being offered, then they'll be at emotional odds.
  • Efficiency: Medium, possibly higher with a Magisword reward.
  • Threat Level: Medium, but getting higher thanks to their time at Elysium Academy, and Byleth's tutelage.

    Etrian Odyssey Guilds
The Etrian Odyssey Guilds, Divine Organizations of Cartography In Gameplay
  • Individually range between Demi-, Lesser, and Intermediate Deities, capable of felling lower-tier Greater Gods (together, or even alone)
  • Symbol: A collection of maps
  • Alignment: All over the place for each individual member, but their goals end up putting them between Lawful Good and Neutral Good (though Etria's do lean a bit more to Lawful Neutral)
  • Inclination: Good.
  • Job Preference: Monster Hunt, Fetch Quest, Rescue, Delivery, Search
  • Job Loyalty: Given what they've fought, High.
  • Job Betrayal: Depends on moral choice, but they usually stick with their original clients.
  • Efficiency: High.
  • Threat Level: Medium to High in general depending on the encountered party. Very High bordering on Extreme when prepared to take on FOEs and bosses.
  • To avoid them hogging all the contracts in the request board given just how many members the guilds have, just like in the games they come from, they're allowed to take only a maximum of five contracts at a time. However, this doesn't apply per guild, either; it goes for all the guilds. They will have to find other jobs elsewhere.
    • But given just how many members there are who can do the job swiftly, and the technology available to transmit information so quickly (i.e. cellphones, though physical bounties still need to be carried in), they're still pretty quick to turn in completed contracts.

    The Pied Piper of Hamelin
The Pied Piper of Hamelin, God of Mind-Control Music
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/PiedPiperOfHamelin_1769.jpg
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: His pipe
  • Alignment: Neutral. It's disputed whether he's Neutral Good, True Neutral or Neutral Evil
  • Inclination: None
  • Job Preference: Pest Extermination, preferrably rats.
  • Job Loyalty: He'll see it through guaranteed.
  • Job Betrayal: Do not renege on paying him and you'll be just fine.
  • Efficiency: His music is a guaranteed hit on those he's charming.
  • Threat Level: Medium. He's just a musician, but his music is surprisingly threatening if pushed properly.

    Porco Rosso
Marco Pagot, God of Pig Men (Porco Rosso, Marco Rosselini)
  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: His Plane.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral bordering on Good
  • Inclination: Good
  • Job Preference: Non-lethal capture and aerial dogfights.
  • Job Loyalty: Good
  • Job Betrayal: Low.
  • Efficiency: High. He's renowned as the best back where he's from.
  • Threat Level: Medium-High. He's pretty mundane compared to everyone else in the Pantheon, but he's an excellent pilot and has been getting upgrade to his plane.

The Teufort Nine in general (Team Fortress)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tf2_red.png
From left to right: Pyro, Engineer, Spy, Heavy, Sniper, Scout, Soldier, Demoman, and Medic
  • Range between Intermediate Gods and Demigods (go up a rank when Ubercharged)
  • Symbol: Mann Co. Alternatively, their respective emblems on their uniforms.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral overall
  • Inclination: Chaos and Good. Two of their teammates each (plus one in the latter) are sided in those Grand United Alliances.
  • Job Preference: Base Defense, Escort, Payload
  • Job Loyalty: Spy aside, they're loyal to one another, and fight for their contractors to the end. It helps that they also like what they do. High. As long as there are no children involved.
  • Job Betrayal: Low, unless they get betrayed first. Or if kids are gonna get hurt.
  • Efficiency: Despite being the lowest-bidder of their kinds (which Mann Co. has a policy of hiring), they're sometimes surprisingly effective in what they do. High.
  • Threat level: Individually, ranging from Medium-High to High. The mercenaries are the best there is in what they do. But when the mercenaries are together, they can hold off armies, which brings them to borderline Very High.
  • The Mercenaries can either be hired wholesale or individually. Greef makes sure they don't end up going against one another.

    The Heavy
Heavy Weapons Guy, God of Gatling Guns (The Heavy, Ivan, Misha, Mikhail, Fatty (by Scout), Hoovy, Fat Scout)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/heavy_weapons_guy.png
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: His minigun Sasha. Alternatively, a set of red or blue crosshairs with a fist in the middle on a yellow background.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Inclination: Any jobs with the Medic, but he's not picky.
  • Job Preference: Bodyguarding, Defense, Assassination. But no herding goats. He is not good with goats.
  • Job Loyalty: With a large fee of $500,000, he'll give you your money's worth.
  • Job Betrayal: As an implied Sore Loser, not to mention his pride, Low. Lower if the Medic's on his side.
  • Efficiency: Give him a constant supply and he'll mow down any foe in his path. He's also surprisingly capable of stealth (in regards to ambushes).
  • Threat Level: High.

    The Engineer
Dell Conagher, God of Percussive Maintenance (The Engineer, Engie)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/engywithsg.png
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: His Uhlman Build-matic wrench. Or alternatively, a Level 3 Sentry, a Red or Blue wrench on a yellow background
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Job Preference: Perimeter Defense, Repairs
  • Job Loyalty: Medium-High.
  • Job Betrayal: He'll certainly think it through, so Medium. Medium-Low if that means turning on his teammates or people he likes.
  • Efficiency: He's a bit paranoid over all the Spies he's had to watch out for, so he's extremely attentive. High.
  • Threat Level: Medium-High. His Sentry Guns, Dispensers, and Teleporters are works of art. Though he's not too willing to share with the class. And if you think busting his sentry Gun is enough, his now-glowing Frontier Justice begs to differ.
  • Warning: Don't teleport bread with his Teleporters (at least for pure wheat; white bread like in the Sandvich is fine).

    The Scout
The Scout, God of Double Jumps (Scoot, Ass Pancakes, Jeremy)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/714e864c2adb5d59694d828dc247e550.png
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: A red/blue winged sneakers
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Job Preference: Hit-And-Run, Heists, Assassinations (surprisingly)
  • Job Loyalty: He's a prideful man and loves his job (and wooing the ladies), so High, and somewhat moreso if it's a female giving the job.
  • Job Betrayal: While marginally more cowardly than the other mercs, he still has his pride. Medium-Low. Perhaps a bit higher if he's being seduced into a new contract.
  • Efficiency: Despite his womanizing ways, he's still a very fast runner, and he's even managed to keep up with Tracer despite losing in the end.
  • Threat Level: With his speed, his dodging skills, and his hit-and-run tactics, he's still dangerous in a fight. Medium-High

    The Sniper
Mr. Mundy, God of Headshots (The Sniper, Mick Mundy, Mun-dee, Bruce, Cuntspam, Lucksman, Creditsman)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/250px_sniper.png
  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: A Red or Blue crosshair on a yellow background
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Job Preference: Reconnaisance, Assassination
  • Job Loyalty: As a professional with standards, he'll do his damnedest to see the job through.
  • Job Betrayal: Low.
  • Efficiency: He's a professional, and professionals have standards. Of course, the target has to be vulnerable to bullets/arrows.
  • Threat Level: He has the greatest range out of all the mercenaries, and can One-Hit Kill. High against the right targets.

    The Spy
The Spy, God of Double-Reverse-Quadruple Agents (SPAH, SHPEE)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spy_menu.png
  • Demigod
  • Symbol: A Red or Blue butterfly knife in a yellow circle
  • Alignment: As indeterminable as his loyalty
  • Job Preference: Infiltration, Assassination, Distraction
  • Job Loyalty: Medium.
  • Job Betrayal: Medium.
  • Efficiency: About as good as any disguiser worth his salt would be. And he's really good at playing mind games, on top of methods to elude death.
  • Threat Level: Medium-High or High, depending on the enemies' diligence to spy-check, and even that might be his plan if he's serving as a distraction.

    The Medic
The Medic, God of Top-Priority Target Healers (Pocket Medic, Mr. Ludwig Humboldt)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/medic_65.png
  • Lesser God
  • Symbol: Symbol: His Medigun on the "Über" setting, his dove Archimedes, or a Red/Blue cross on an Orange background.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Inclination: Wherever there's science to be done.
  • Job Preference: Support, Science
  • Job Loyalty: Medium. He's just here For Science!.
  • Job Betrayal: It all comes down to funding, though he's less likely to turn coat if the Heavy's with him (or more if the Heavy turns coat).
  • Efficiency: High, given how fast his Medigun can heal people on the field and how high of a priority he is as a target as a result of that. And in the heat of battle, given his importance, he can end up taking command. That said, only unnaturally strong hearts (or those of his teammates) can handle the stress of the ÜberCharge
  • Threat Level: Usually dependent on the teammate he's keeping alive via Medigun, but he's no slouch in combat himself either. And he's a pretty proficient bullshit artist to boot.

    The Pyro
The Pyro, God(dess?) of Flamethrowers (W+M1 Pyro)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/meet_pyro.png
  • Intermediate Deity
  • Symbol: His/her gasmask. A 3-tipped stylized red or blue flame on a yellow background.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral overall (Good in their mind, Evil in reality)
  • Inclination: Wherever there's fire, or where there's the Engineer.
  • Job Preference: Arson, Defending the Engineer, Spy-Checking (only if Friendly Fireproof is in effect)
  • Job Loyalty: Indeterminable. See below.
  • Job Betrayal: Unknown. Inclined to stay on whatever side the Engineer is on.
  • Efficiency: They're really good at their job, but will usually need a minder (usually the Engineer) lest they burn everything down. They're also pretty good ambushers and can fit almost any combat role with the right loadout.
  • Threat Level: Pretty damn High unless against those that can douse fire or manipulate it.
  • Sometimes works as a Henchman for the Evil Geniuses for strange reasons.

Affiliated Mercenaries

Blacklisted Mercs

They're not part of the guild due to varying reasons, but as mercenaries, the Guild still lists them if one ever wishes to contact them.

    Gauron
Gauron, God of Psychotic Mercenaries
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gauron_profile.jpg
  • Intermediate God
  • Symbol: His personal Arm Slave Codarl/Venom.
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil
  • Inclination: Evil
  • Job Preference: Assassinations, Slaughter, Terrorism
  • Job Loyalty: He does what he does because he loves the thrill of the kill. Paying might even be optional. Therefore, High.
  • Job Betrayal: None. He loves killing.
  • Efficiency: He's been hired to overthrow governments, has repeatedly faked surrenders, and has proven to be extremely psychotic. High, and higher if he could focus on the job without other random murders/rapes along the way.
  • Threat Level: High.
  • The reason he's not an official member is because Boba Fett has blacklisted him and repeatedly stated that he would never work with that maniac again. The toll of his own followers alone was enough to cut all ties with the madman. Being competitive is one thing, but offing their own at random is too much of a risk to take.

    B. B. Hood
Baby Bonnie Hood, Goddess of Angelic Faces Masking Black Hearts (Bulleta, B.B. Hood)
  • Lesser Goddess
  • Symbol: A wicker basket loaded with heavy weaponry.
  • Alignment: Neutral Evil
  • Inclination: Anti-Monster.
  • Job Preference: Assassinations, Wholesale Slaughter, Any Kill Jobs as long as it's against monsters.
  • Job Loyalty: She does what she does because she likes it. And if the client turns out to be non-human, she'll just turn on them after the contract.
  • Job Betrayal: None. It helps that she likes what she does.
  • Efficiency: Very High, as she's a Special S Class hunter in the Dark Hunters Guild.
  • Threat Level: Deceptively high. She's even willing to go up against Melkor just for the heck of it.
  • The reason she's not an official member is because she tends not to follow the regulations within the premises and proves problematic for all non-human members of the guild.
