* The introductory scene of the ''Executor'', a.k.a. the Super Star Destroyer. You remember how a standard-sized Star Destroyer is bigger than a rebel cruiser in ''Film/ANewHope'', right? And now, compared to ''Executor'', these standard-sized Star Destroyers are ''dwarfed''. In the movie's opening, a fleet of Star Destroyers are orbiting Hoth. A flyby of one of the bridge towers puts across how huge these ships are. Then a shadow appears over one of the Destroyers and that shadow grows and ''grows'' and '''''grows'''''...

** Just look at Captain Piett's face during the whole scene. He goes from being disturbed at seeing Ozzel getting choked, to shocked when Vader names him Admiral, to fearful when Ozzel's body hits the floor as a tacit reminder of what will happen if he screws up.

* The ''very first'' thing the viewer sees of the now iconic AT-AT Walker is the foot of one through the grainy filter of one soldier's binoculars before panning up to the "head" of a massive lumbering metal beast the likes of which audiences had never seen before. Then he pulls back to zoom to reveal ''[[OhCrap two more.]]'' The next time we see them there're ''five'' on screen and outside materials confirm that the number of AT-[=ATs=] is unknown but at least ''six total.'' Just ''one'' of these things [[TheDreaded instills dread]] in the rank and file and proves capable of plowing through their lines, and there're ''at least six'' on the planet alone.
** The Battle of Hoth in general serves to show just ''why'' the Rebel Alliance has to stay on the run. They're ''hopelessly outgunned'' against the Empire. All they have against the assault walkers is infantry with some minor emplaced weapons, none of which can even penetrate the AT-[=ATs=] armor, they're being slaughtered by the bushel, they have to focus the majority of their strategic strength to maintaining their exit strategy with the battlefield troops mostly holding the line until evacuations are complete before bugging out themselves, ''and'' Darth ''fucking'' Vader is on field. Even setting aside the walkers, the Rebels are incredibly outmatched. One poor Rebel [[DeathByTransceiver radios a warning that Imperial troops have entered the base]] [[KilledMidSentence and cuts off halfway through.]] It was only after that point that the Rebel infantry desperately trying to hold the line retreated.
