Nightmare Fuel / Slavic Mythology

• How about we start off with Cicha (pl. Silent), an obscure Polish demon, and a prime example of a Creepy Child. Its Wikipedia entry literally says "it kills humans, especially children swiftly and without warning." Not only that, but Cicha is a Walking Wasteland, as every plant she walks near dies.
• Another obscure Polish demon is Macica, literally "The Womb". But it's a giant centipede that lives inside you, and when you displease it, it rips your insides to shreds and you can't get it out.
• Then there's Poroniec, a Fetus Terrible? They come into existence from stillborn fetuses, or babies that died from misscarriage. Apparently Slavs were so scared of them that they created various countermeasures to stop them, such as creating various rules for pregnant women to follow in order not to create one of these things.
• Afraid of fire? Cieszyn Silesia got you covered with Fajermon. If you don't thank anyone during your life or abuse animals, you'll get turned into this headless, tall humanoid that is constantly on fire. Only if you'll help someone and he'll thank you for your help, you'll be free. Oh wait, you are a fire demon.
• Drekavac. Just Drekavac. A bogeyman that according to some versions of the story is: a zombie, a walking leg with glowing eyes, or a soldier ghost. And guess why it's a bogeyman.
  • And there's also it's Herzegowinian cousin - Plakavac. It's a small, vampire-like undead baby, and it screams too.
• Don't you ever disrespect Slavic mines, or else you risk angering the Skarbnik. This creepy old man dwells underground and if you get too greedy stealing his gold or just mess around in the mines too much, he will push you into a deep, dark chasm, and what exactly he does to you there nobody knows.
• Croatian Tintilinić is another Creepy Child. He does not actually do anything (at least, nothing that we know of...), but just the thought of a creepy demon child with a red cap running through your house is enough.
