Not portrayed: The Sickening "Crunch!"

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

  • In the episode prior to Charmeleon evolving, we get what is very strongly implied to be a Rocket Grunt ripping a still living Marowak's skull out offscreen. And while we're spared the visual, we're NOT spared the sickening crunch. No wonder Red reached his Rage Breaking Point in response.
  • Giovanni's Nidoking using Fissure... While Blue's Blastoise stands between Nidoking and the soil.
    • Made worse for Blue by the fact it's a Nidoking, like the Pokemon who killed his Raticate.
    • Fissure on the body of a downed Pokemon to fully knock them out is apparently Nidoking's trademark Finishing Move that he pulls every time he can.
    • Red's Nidoking does the same sort of "Direct Hit Fissure" once or twice, most notably against Blue's Rhydon in the final battle, just... without downing Rhydon first. It earns him a Taking You with Me via Horn Drill.
  • Giovanni in general. He's a trainer so strong that the only reason he's not in the Elite Four is that he's been repeatedly passed over, a master strategist, and not only he leads Kanto's largest criminal syndicate, after years of humiliations he's on the edge of sanity - and when he finally captures Mewtwo, he unleashes all his pent-up anger on the entire region.
    • How he captures Mewtwo: first he defeats Red and Blue at the same time after toying with them for a while, then, once all their Pokemon are down, he has Ariana's Arbok use Wrap on them and hold them hostage in exchange for the Master Ball. And once he has it he goes to Cerulean Cave, curbstomps his way to Mewtwo (notably, his Nidoking one-shoots a Slowbro in spite of Type disadvantage and while surfing), and throws the Master Ball at Mewtwo while the Pokemon was holding him at Shadow Ball-point.
    • What he does with Mewtwo once he had his scientist examine them: first he has him capture a group of Tentacool and Tentacruels straight up from the sea, then he goes to the jail housing all the arrested Rocket Grunts, breaks them out, and unleashes them on Kanto. Later, he forces Maxie (a Big Bad in his own right) to kiss his hand in submission, and then, just to be a dick, has Mewtwo blow up Oak's lab from afar. This is the act that makes Mewtwo and Blaine decide to turn on him at the first chance, and has Silver free Red and Blue and tell the Gym Leaders and Elite Four where to find Giovanni.
      • Giovanni's attack on the jail is especially terrifying for one of the guards... A former Rocket Grunt that had left Team Rocket in disgust after the Pokemon Tower affair, and now has to face his former boss with an invincible Pokemon.
    • After being freed, Red and Blue go immediately to try and fight Giovanni again... And Red is promptly mind-controlled into fighting Blue, as Giovanni didn't feel like beating them again and decided to have Mewtwo deal with the situation this way. And when Blue recalls his Blastoise, he has Red beat him down again and again, and would have killed him had Mewtwo not decided he had enough.
  • Red's very one-sided battle with Sabrina, which basically amounts to full-on Mind Rape.
  • After winning all other Badges, Red goes to Viridian's Gym to win the Earth Badge... And finds Giovanni waiting for him under a giant screen with the words "The Self-Proclaimed Strongest Trainer", holding the Earth Badge in his hand to announce himself as the Gym Leader while Ariana and dozens of Rocket Grunts wait for the showdown. And Giovanni actually lives up to his title when his Nidoking takes Articuno down and follows that by making mincemeat with Snorlax. Had Red not brought with him Mew, facing him with a Pokemon too strong for him whose mere appearance sent him into a Villainous Breakdown, it's probable Giovanni would have won... And forced Red into Team Rocket.
  • During the fight with Bruno, Machamp first pummels the daylights out of Hypno, then uses its lower arms to pick up Hypno and then pummels Hypno with its upper arms... before landing a Karate Chop so hard we get to see the X-Ray of Hypno's Skull cracking, if not outright splitting in half. The entire scene looks like something Goro would do. And Hypno continues to sport a nasty bruise at the point of impact after this point, all the way until Blue allows/encourages Red to full heal before their duel. And then the sequel confirms that in the end, this pummeling ended up leaving a forehead scar behind.
  • Blue's Slasher Smile during the Champion battle with Red, showing how unhinged his humiliations have made him. Up until Oak arrives and hugs him, it seemed Giovanni's tragedy was going to repeat itself.
