Nightmare Fuel / Other Friendship Is Magic Fan Vids

Flash/ Videos

  • THIS flash animation. Stars out innocent, with Pinkie Pie preparing to eat some delicious cupcakes...Applejack comes up from behind, explaining that the cupcakes were for Fluttershy. Pinkie Pie turns around, making a Nightmare Face and screaming at her, complete with a Red Filter of Doom...and then she resumes eating the cupcakes adorably. And we view this from Applejack's perspective.
  • This. Basically, it's MLP mixed with Amnesia: The Dark Descent expansion pack Justine. It involves a Yandere Fluttershy, a Blood Knight Rainbow Dash, and a Psychopathic Manchild Pinkie Pie. The worst part? Fluttershy sounds exactly like the real Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash's voice isn't too far off either...
    • The above scene has spawned this. It's also a massive Tear Jerker, considering Twilight's horrified reaction to Fluttershy' look.
  • Yep. Someone did Cupcakes again. Set to Andrew W.K.'s "Ready to Die". The animation and Pinkie's faces Do NOT help. (Think Pinkie Pie by way of The Ren & Stimpy Show and you're on the right track.)
    • Wanna know what makes it worse? Someone on the animation team of the show animated it. DEAR GOD! Granted, it could also be considered a Funny Moment, but ONLY if you have a pitch black sense of humor.
    • There is something extremely unsettling about Rainbow Dash dancing around missing, at the least, her torso organs and quite possibly her rib cage too.
  • Sometimes, Pound and Pumpkin are more than Pinkie can handle. Basically, the Cake twins are causing trouble, breaking stuff, etc. Annoyed, Pinkie watches them. Then, carefully and quietly, she opens up the knife drawer... Thankfully, before she can do anything, Twilight shows up in the window an exclaims, "Pinkie Pie, what are you doing?!" Busted, Pinkie puts the miniature scythe down, then returns to her bored demeanor.

  • In a video that has since been removed from YouTube, Twilight Sparkle decides to become a God.
Police report: (over a picture of Pinkie Pie's sweet smiling face) Six bodies were found today at Sugarcube Corner,
  • "I have so much strength inside of me that you don't even KNOW what I could do! If the world isn't going to love me then I'll teach it to FEAR ME INSTEAD!!!!" Jeez Sweetie Bot!
  • This video is a very disturbing take on the ending of Season 2's finale. It starts out innocently enough, showing the wedding in all its heartwarming glory, albeit with some really spooky music playing. But when Twilight hugs Shining Armor, the scene zooms in on her face...and when it zooms out, she wakes up inside one of Queen Chrysalis' cocoons. It then zooms out to reveal that she's not the only one; Fluttershy, Applejack, Lily, Rainbow Dash and who knows who else are all waking up trapped in these cocoons and they're all just beginning to realize the horrible truth; Shining Armor and Princess Cadence didn't really win, Equestria has been taken over by the Changelings and Queen Chrysalis is now eternally feeding off of their love with a giant Slasher Smile on her face and has trapped all of them in a Lotus-Eater Machine to make them think they have won. *shiver*.
    • On the other hand, can't deny it would make a great Season 3 Episode 1 opening.
    • Gets even worse when you look at the comments: One YouTube user going by the name of "Pinkie Pie" has posted the first verse of the Laughter Song from the pilot episode, accompanied with this gem:
    • Someone else edited this scene as an alternate take on the season THREE ending. Which is creepier when you think about it. All the adventure and character development during that season was all an illusion.
    Twilight: Everything's going to be just {she wakes up in the cocoon}
  • The 46:16 mark of Ponies the Anthology II. The combination of the image of Princess Celestia and Holst's "Mars, the Bringer of War" will definitely creep out many a brony.
    • That's creepy enough in the size of a YouTube screen. This premiered at a con. With big screens. Very big screens.
  • "Smile, Smile, Smile" in G Major with a Pinkie Pie version of Smile.jpg. Mother of god...
  • If Gilda wants you to shut up, you should probably do so... lest ye unleash the wrath of Korn and a bunch of punches. Though the hat-and-cane-dance near the end may be Nightmare Retardant.
  • The Flash game "Twilight vs Walking". It starts off as a "simple" QWOP clone. If you're patient enough to make it to the end of the third screen, over the book hurdles...the floor suddenly breaks, and Twilight falls through. The background changes to a deep red that gets darker and darker, and Twilight becomes a silhouette as she falls further and further...and then her body breaks apart, with her head, limbs, and torso all falling in different directions. Luckily, it was All Just a Dream.
    • WAS IT NOW? The game loops right back at the beginning after the "ending"... the implication being that Twilight is trapped in some kind of horrifying "Groundhog Day" Loop...
  • This video is the series animated in the style of the second opening of Higurashi: When They Cry. Since the anime's openings were pretty tame compared to what actually happened within, it's pretty safe for the most part... until the end where it has Fluttershy mimicking Shion's crazy laugh.
  • 'Want it, Need it (Hold Me)' is a ponification/parody of the video for Delta Heavy's 'Hold Me'. It still manages to be pretty unsettling, especially as Twilight becomes increasingly unhinged.
  • This video based on this comic. Celestia wouldn't turn ponies to stone...right?
  • If you value your sanity, stay away from this video. Pinkamena's coming for you.
  • This fanmade trailer (originally for a hypothetical season 3, now a hypothetical season 4 one). We've fallen in love with the Mane 6, and seen them defeat everything thrown in their paths. But they can't stop a blizzard from destroying Equestria. Two parts in particular stands out: A freezing Twilight in the middle of the blizzard (the description says she's not dead, but is that really a good thing?) and a haunting rendition of the theme at the end.
    • Oh, and Sombra has control of the Crystal Empire again.
  • This video. Twilight teleports into a brony's backyard. And King Sombra follows her...
    • This teaser for the sequel. A mute surveillance camera shows Twilight and the brony fleeing through some nearby woods. And Sombra's slowly gaining on them...
    • The same brony made this (for Halloween, fittingly enough), in which he gets possessed by Discord. With a hoodie of all things!
  • This PMV, set to Aviators' Shadows, is loaded with pure Nightmare Fuel. The whole thing. Especially the final scene that shows Pinkamena about to kill Rainbow Dash.
    • And that's not even mentioning what leads up to it; Twilight sitting in a burning locker room, Applejack sitting among the fiery ruins of Sweet Apple Acres with an armored Big Macintosh looking ready to attack her, Rarity watching as Carousel Boutique burns and Fluttershy witnessing a burning skeletal animal of some kind. And for some reason, Normal!Pinkie just looks on sadly through some windows as Discord seemingly takes Pinkamena under his wing... Just, what!? For added sadness, the burning animal is probably Angel bunny (it is a rabbit skull).
  • Pinkie joins her friends for a picnic with a great smile on her face. There's nothing wrong with that, right? But suddenly, Pinkie starts attacking everypony and she manages to kill all of them. Brutally. With a great big smile on her face the whole freaking time. All of this set to a ridiculously happy remix of the Smile song from the original show. note
  • This PMV, made specially for Halloween. The song is especially chilling as it features an insane Pinkie sweetly singing to Rainbow Dash as she mutilates her to make cupcakes. The imagery in the video doesn't help as it's drawn in a very simplistic style, which adds to the creepiness factor. There's also a horrifying Jump Scare at the end, five seconds after the song finishes. It shows Pinkie making a Nightmare Face, which is accompanied with a terrifying scream.
  • By itself, Fluttershy's Stare isn't all that unsettling. Then someone had the bright idea to take the chicken scene from "The Stare Master", add in a creepily-realistic Fluttershy image and a couple instances of Slender Man-esque static, and set it to the title theme from Koyaanisqatsi
  • Rainbow Factory and all of it's spin-offs.
  • This next one is about rocks. T̩͎͖͈͎͊Ḥ̨̽ͫE̮̠͙̫̘ͩ͞Y͍͖̥̳̠̳̠̑͊̑̀'͓̤ͫ̆ͨ͑͗ͣ̋R̪͖̺̥̩̉̌̍͋ͧE͔̩̱ͨ̉̊͑͐ ̀̈͑̑̚҉͉A̡͍̗̳̱̭̜ͧͯ̄̅ͥ́Ļ̻͊͐͑L̥̽̍́ͩ̓͟ ̼͓͕͙̩̥͖ͤ͐̔̆͋̆A̶̡͈͗̈́ͥ͗͒B̶̠̦̮̥̹̝͍̣̽̈́̒̿ͯ̊ͩ͊O̴̫͍̮͚̖̱̹̤̔́͜͞U̟̲͊̈́̓̀T̖͎̺͙ͫͯ̃ͩͣͧ͘͘ ̸̖͎̰̳͑̒̓̽ͨ͟ͅR̯̺̮̓́͋ͮͮ͝͝͡Oͯ̒̈́͏̥̖̯̥͖͍̖C̷̶̛͎͔̳̘͇͇ͣͭͯ̌K̥̝̬̼̫̠͖͛͆͗̆͐S̱͚̼̣̑͑͢
  • A Colt Classic. Things start off with Twilight wanting to sacrifice Rainbow Dash in a ritual, despite Applejack try to talk her out of it... then it gets worse when the ritual happens. Rainbow appears in the middle of a black void. She realizes something is behind her. We get a wide shot of a gigantic, terrifying, demonic-looking Celestia. Rainbow turns around, screams, and things end in a hard cut to black.
  • Here's an oldie: this Youtube Poop based off "Party of One" somehow manages to take Pinkie's infamous Sanity Slippage scene and make it even creepier than the original episode. How creepy you ask? In this version, when Pinkie undergoes her breakdown she starts looking directly at the viewer.
  • This. And I Must Scream is in full effect here. Not to mention that ending...
  • The majority of "Rarity's New Dress", from start to finish.
    Sweetie Belle: (choking) I'm... sorry.
  • An oldie but a goodie: Jeffthestrider's original fansong Want It Need It (not related to the Fan Vid above) and this awesomely creepy cover by Miu. It basically describes how it feels to be on the receiving end of the "Want It Need It" spell, which is depicted as an And I Must Scream scenario—the singer is the victim of a Want It Need It spell from Twilight, who more or less Mind Rapes and enslaves them to her will in the process. No matter how hard the singer fights against it, they can't break free, with the ending chillingly implying that they eventually give up entirely and resign themselves to being trapped in Twilight's thrall forever...
    Drowning in these compelled desires
Burning down in her alluring fire
time's slipping by, She commands, I comply
I will never be free from her cruel lies

How well does it match the trope?
