Hilarious and entertaining Nico may be, but there are quite a few moments that can be unsettling to both him and the Picky Penguins.

  • Nico genuinely gets scared and disturbed of certain things in the games he played, such as Slender Man, Omega/Photoshop Flowey from Undertale, and Kristoph Gavin's scar on his hand turning into a demonic face.
  • Practically up to eleven in his reaction to Episode 7 of Side:Despair. He was so screwed up by it that he made two messages on Twitter in advance before the video was up that said "God, I really don't want to edit this Despair 7 video... That shit was just too much." and "Really shouldn't have watched that before dinner..." respectively. If that wasn't enough, he even put up a disclaimer at the beginning of his reaction video. It's scary alone that he was THAT shaken by the episode. The song Mukuro was made to sing only made it worse for him because of Soundtrack Dissonance.
Nico (in his comment): This episode fucked me up, and it wasn't just because of Komaeda's bare ass.
  • In the end of the fourth Council of Voices, a mysterious man dressed similar to Zero is looking over the council and previous episodes through monitors. All he says is the line, "Soon...very soon..." making the scene more unsettling than it already is.
  • From Danganronpa V3, Nico was unsettled by Tenko's strange expressions, and Kaito's Nightmare Face was enough for him to compare it to Kazuichi's Nightmare Face. Then came along Kokichi's snake-like smirk, which freaked him out so much that he said it was the creepiest expression out of the cast. THEN in the very next episode, Kokichi's next frightening expression turned his skin pitch-black and his hair white, driving Nico to practically beg Kokichi to stop.
    • What's more is that for those who finished the game, they know that it won't be the last Nightmare Face Kokichi makes. And indeed, when Kokichi pulls out his newest one in Chapter Four, Nico actually yells in shock, and is so disturbed he needs to leave the room.
    • However, the above is nothing compared to Kokichi's Nightmare Face in Chapter 5. It's so scare-inducing, that Nico actually dies from looking at it, and Kokichi momentarily takes over his channel. The editing for that particular segment is pretty nightmarish itself - especially combined with Kokichi's laugh.
  • For the finale episode of AI: The Somnium Files- nirvanA Initiative, Nico changes up the intro to reflect what at first seems to be a parody of the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour intro with Mizuki’s and Ryuki’s theme songs overlapping each other. However, a sinister tone starts to overlay the intro when the song started being slowed down and played in reverse, along with visual glitches overtaking the screen, before cutting out completely. This leads to a screen filled with static and filtered gameplay footage as Nico!Tearer plays the character straight, seemingly asking the viewer if they could hear him, calling out for the Frayer. Considering the previous game’s LP series had its finale be a goofy visualization of its theme intro, this serves as a startling, yet on-theme surprise to those who were not expecting the finale intro to take this sort of turn.
  • For the Paranoramasight "And now back to..." segment, Nico simply says "And now back to Paranormasight" normally, with no funny quips, no crazy shenanigans involving characters from different series, nothing. Considering the work was a horror series it made sense, but to see it be just a normal intro made viewers experience Mood Whiplash from it.
    • And then, from Episode 6 onwards, the intro slowly becomes more and more distorted as the episodes progress, introducing audio cuts and suddenly pitching the voice of Nico down a peg. If you were expecting just an eerie normal intro, this should take you by surprise.
    • Culminating in the final episode, it starts out normally, and then it repeats again, and again, and again, and again with the pitch down... up until everything starts to crumble into a glitchy mess with long stretches of silence interrupted with disturbing corrupting sounds, almost like a broken TV or DVD. And it stretches out for almost 2 and a half minutes. Needless to say, it is Nico's most disturbing "And now back to..." segment so far.
  • Council of Voices:
    • During Nico's update video on February 24 2018, "Zero" from the end of Council of Voices Episode 4 suddenly shows up. With his distorted voice and frightening close-ups, he announces that he's going to host a new Nonary Game with people like the Council of Voices members as the participants, hoping to have the viewer's "attendance", chuckling as he returns the video back to normal.
    • The Nonary Game itself is proving absolutely terrifying. 'Highlights' so far include Seven turning up dead with a look of horror on his face, Togami having to hack Komaeda's arm off with a knife to save both of their lives, and Joshua being essentially murdered and left all alone to die of a slow-acting, paralyzing poison.
    • Episode 8. This episode's prison segment is extremely confusing, with K talking about a weird dream he had and a significant Wham Line, but while the viewer is still trying to wrap their head around that, we get these 6 words: GET THE HELL AWAY FROM MEEEEEE!!!!!
      • The Blackened, Naia from Princess Princess, provides a healthy dose of it upon their reveal. The sheer thought of someone you considered a harmless and caring friend turning out to be an almost emotionless killer who impersonated that friend, in this case Mayuri, is absolutely terrifying.
