Narm / Friday the 13th

Go To

Friday the 13th (1980):

  • Ned's goofy line asking Marcy what flavour of ice cream she'd be, and her equally goofy delivery of "rocky road" as a response.
  • Annie randomly says she hates it when people say kids instead of children, "like little goats". Not only is it a silly line, but she'd freely said the word 'kids' herself earlier.
  • Pamela Milking the Giant Cow after getting decapitated.

Friday the 13th Part III:

  • The main theme. Nothing quite says "scary film" like disco!
  • Chris recounting her encounter with Jason.
"He had a knife! And he attacked me with it!"
  • Chili's reaction when she realizes that Shelly really is dead instead of faking it like the last time it happened; she starts to walk around in calm pace as she screams about it.
  • Jason yelling "Ow!" when Chris stabs him, a rare moment of dialogue from him that makes him much less scary.
  • Many of the 3D money shots, especially the kill scenes such as Rick's death by eye pop.

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning:

  • Intensive horror music plays when Pam, Tommy and Reggie drive to the trailer park.
  • When a lightning strike reveals to Reggie that Tommy's dark room is filled with corpses, it's a good horror film moment. Then Pam goes in there and the exact same thing happens offscreen, it has been turned into a comedy film moment.
  • When Pam closes in on the killer with a chainsaw, it suddenly runs out of gas.
  • The blue markings on "Jason"'s hockey mask look like a mustache.
  • When Reggie attacks "Jason" with the tractor, it moves too slowly to be taken seriously. It takes ten full seconds from the time he crashes through the wall to the time he hits "Jason". It's like the steamroller scene from Austin Powers, but here it's played straight. Seen here in all its glory.

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives:

  • Cort constantly repeating "This is great" to ridiculous levels while taking the RV for a joyride. It's very obvious that the actor wasn't given any specific direction other than "just act like you’re enjoying yourself" and that phrase is all he could think of.

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood:

  • Awesome as the scene is, the sleeping bag kill becomes much sillier when you realize she’s not only being whacked against a fairly small tree, but judging by the placements on where Jason hits her, she splits her head open after her feet make contact with the tree. Granted, she was supposed to be thrown against the tree six times before it got cut down, but still.
  • Zombified or not, the idea that Tina resurrects her dead dad to defeat Jason once and for all is still a ridiculous sight to behold. This isn't helped by the fact her dad simply looks like a regular man covered by dirt instead of the zombified look they originally planned on using.

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan:

  • Jason screaming in some odd animal noise after his mask is removed.
  • Jason pushing the fire alarm after a fire started... which he caused.
  • In one scene, Jason attacks Rennie in her cabin. He smashes her window with his head, and reaches through...only the actress is standing too far away, so we get a shot of her backing up to get within Jason's reach so he can actually grab her.
  • Jason ignoring all the hundreds of people in New York to chase a few specific ones across it.
  • The fact New York City's sewers flood with toxic waste every night. There's also random barrels of it in alleys.
  • Similarly to Roy's mask in Part V, the red markings on the side of the mask make it look like Jason has a mustache in this movie.
  • Speaking of the hockey mask, Jim having one to scare his girlfriend at the beginning makes sense... but when you look at it closely, you’ll see that he deliberately put the axe mark from Part III in there, for no reason other than to be a Continuity Nod, but given it's not the original mask Jason's worn since Part III, it makes it all the more sillier that it's even on this one to begin with.
  • Most viewers agree that it's pretty ridiculous how, instead of running for the door, Tamara just curls up in a corner and repeatedly yells "No" for about ten seconds as Jason gets a weapon to kill her with, even though he is neither blocking her path nor facing her. Four words come to mind: Too Dumb to Live.

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday:

  • The score for the film is very cheesy, especially the main theme music, which sounds like a synthesizer having a seizure.
  • The climax where Jason gets sent to Hell should be this intense, epic moment, but instead comes off incredibly silly when the demons of Hell that grab Jason look like cheesy rock monsters that wouldn't look too out-of-place in an episode of Power Rangers. The spotlight that looms over Jason as he's about to be sent to Hell is also quite goofy, as it brings to mind imagery of Jason being abducted by aliens.
  • Joey B.'s kill involves her getting her mouth punch in. This alone is a frightening concept, but the camera lingers too long on her bobbing her head around, making the scene feel much goofier than intended.

Jason X:

  • Kay-Em's new look is pretty cheesy but also cool, until the line "I gave her an upload!" No, Tsunaron. You gave her an upgrade.

Friday the 13th (2009):

  • Some of Trent's dialogue when he's having sex with Bree can be (and is likely meant to be) groan-worthy, such as this gem:
Trent: You've got perfect nipple placement!
  • The overabundance of sex and weed has also been seen as too cartoonishly over the top, even in a series known for having lots of both.
  • Whitney's line when she stabs Jason with his machete. What should’ve been an epic final line becomes a laugh out loud moment just by the way she delivers the final part. Even the actress admitted that she couldn’t help but laugh between takes, and claimed that she fought it tooth and nail because she thought it was cheesy.
Whitney: Say Hi to Mommy... IN HELL!
